Thomas O’Brien: American Modern

I don’t remember what I was looking for but somehow stumbled upon a small snippet that announced that Thomas O’Brien is coming out with a book. It will be titled American Modern and will be published by Harry N. Abrams sometime in 2010. I hope it’s true because I am sure it will be full of beautiful photographs just like these old photos of his Bellport Long Island home and gardens! Thomas O’Brien will also celebrate his 10th anniversary designing for Hickory Chair at the market in High Point this fall and will also unveil new additions to his collection next spring. Looks like 2010 is going to be a good year for Thomas O’Brien…and those of us who enjoy his work!

Love Thomas O’Brien. A magazine featured his city home before and I tried to replicate his wall of photos but mine looked like a disaster area. Will build a beach house soon and torn between a modern glass house or something like his cottage.

    A total genius.

I wipe away a tear as I think of all those georgeous Domino spreads. The feature on his Bellport gardens inspired me to order two New Dawn roses.

So timeless. I love all of these spaces. Perfectly mixed and balanced, I think that I could move right in. Thanks for focusing my mind this morning.

One of my favorite designers! I will be on the lookout for this book.
I found my kitchen cabinet pulls from one of his kitchens and see them again in a photo above.

I would like to see more of this style of design. There is a homey, old style feeling, as well as a refreshing new design.
