Custom window fashions giant Hunter Douglas has just launched The Art of Window Dressing iPad App that lets you see how actual products will look on your own windows.  The App will allow designers and regular customers visualize how each blind will look before buying.  A great idea for those who have trouble picturing the finished product that will make shopping a whole lot easier.

“In many ways, our new App will revolutionize how consumers begin their search to find the perfect window treatments for their homes”, said Ron Kass, Hunter Douglas Executive Vice President of Marketing. “It brings together in one place everything a consumer needs to get started, simplifying the process and making it a whole lot more efficient and enjoyable.”

In order to celebrate The Art of Window Dressing iPad App, Hunter Douglas is generously giving away an Apple iPad 3 with basic WiFi (16GB) in black or white (your choice) with a value of $499 to one lucky Habitually Chic reader.  All you have to do is “Like” the Hunter Douglas Facebook page and leave a comment here telling me which room you need new window treatments.  Official rules are below but you have one week to enter and a winner will be chosen by random and announced on the blog next week.

Good luck!
Rules: Giveaway will run until 11:59pm on Tuesday, May 8, 2012. One winner chose at random on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 and announced on the blog.  One entry per person.  Email entries will not be accepted. Open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia who are at least eighteen (18) years old at the time of entry.  Employees of sponsor, as well as the immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings and children) and household members of each such employee, are not eligible
While you are checking out Hunter Douglas, I suggest taking a peek at the Provenance Woven Wood Shades.  They’d be perfect for any decor and are my personal favorite.

  15. capriciouslyinspired May 1, 2012 | 8:49 pm

My bedroom so desperately needs new window treatments. I’m a 22 year old living in a 4 year olds room… lime green walls and plaid pink, green, yellow, and blue curtains and blinds. Help!

  16. Erin LaDue May 1, 2012 | 9:23 pm

We need Window treatments for our bedroom. Right now I just have a tablecloth hanging up. I pinned on pinterest a similar shade to the woven one you shared. I love anything that has a natural feel but keeps the light out for sleeping in on the weekends!

    Hi.
My window treatments are a tragic ugly mess. I look at them at at times just want to sulk in my horrid misery, it is bring on gas. I am wondering if you can help guide me to a shop that will come in and help me pick the fabric? It MUST be orange with a slight highlight of gray and most def beige, different shades of beige, with a circle pattern thats a treed.
I intend on having them for a short time as I tend to like to change things around a lot. It fills me spiritually.
    Help me Ms. Chic.

Great idea for an app! I personally need to replace my original Hunter Douglas honeycomb blinds in my master, they are approaching 13 this summer!

  22. Anna May 1, 2012 | 10:17 pm

My sunroom with 12 windows with no treatments because it’s too expensive. It would be so great to cover the windows since I’m always paranoid that someone is looking in!

  23. Interior Tidbits May 1, 2012 | 11:23 pm

Where should I start..I would say my bedroom. It’s the one place at the end of the day where I unwind. Hunter Douglas woven shade would look great in my bedroom.

  24. Kimberly May 1, 2012 | 11:26 pm

My master bedroom is so bare. But I just cant decide.

    I liked on FB.

  25. Bobbie May 1, 2012 | 11:37 pm

I moved into a old brick building last year and the kitchen windows are so big, I don’t even know what to do with them. Thankfully the trees just bloomed to obscure the view again…

  26. Bobbie May 1, 2012 | 11:42 pm

I just checked out the HD website and I had no idea they made shutters. That’s exactly what I need for my kitchen windows, but I don’t know how to measure for them. The windows have so much molding and recesses, I wouldn’t even know where to start.

  27. Jenny @ Spry On The Wall May 2, 2012 | 1:18 am

My living room! It’s a weird window configuration that perplexes me. What a great idea for an app!

  28. Dissertation May 2, 2012 | 2:20 am

My bedroom could definitely use an update – the blinds and curtains leave an awkward hole because they aren’t exactly the right size and are stuck in a weird corner.

  29. lauren w. May 2, 2012 | 3:11 am

The windows at my parents’ house ALL need treatments. They just have mini blinds on them and they’ve been that way for 10 years! More importantly though, my mom needs an iPad. She injured her knee and can’t go up stairs to the computer for three months, maybe more if she ends up needing surgery! I hope I win this for her!

  30. Janessa May 2, 2012 | 3:42 am

I’m working on my home office and it’s in serious need of a curtain update.

  31. Elizabeth webster May 2, 2012 | 3:47 am

Think 1970s. And not in any retro design homage either. Straight up ugly. My living room is screaming for real window treatments that will let there be light!

  32. Amy May 2, 2012 | 4:11 am

I need window treatments for every room in the new house we’re building! 🙂

  33. Cindy at enclos*ure May 2, 2012 | 6:07 am

Our bedroom will need new window treatments. We’re on a fairly busy city street, so we need something room darkening, and if it can mitigate noise, that’s a plus.

  34. Darryl May 2, 2012 | 6:48 am

Would love to update the blinds in our bedroom. Thanks for the opportunity!

  35. Leisa May 2, 2012 | 11:10 am

We desperately need new blinds for the huge bank of windows in our living/dining area–the summer sun heats up the space to a crazy temperature!

  36. Mollypalooza May 2, 2012 | 11:12 am

My husband and I just redid our whole kitchen and added a window. (Now we have a total of 5.) Now, we can’t figure out what to do with the windows. Since our imagination conquered the kitchen itself, we’re tapped out when it comes to the windows and we’re totally lost. Hate to have NOTHING up, but that’s what we’re left with.

  37. Karen May 2, 2012 | 11:12 am

We need our whole house updated . . . In the middle of a major renovation. The HD app will be so helpful as we try out the different options! Technology is fantastic.

    Heather
I desperately need window treatments in my third floor attic space. I do Tracy Anderson’s trampoline workout up there, and I cannot imagine what it looks like to the neighbors walking by. LOL!

  41. LH May 2, 2012 | 12:04 pm

Our sunroom! We have four windows and a sliding door to our deck. I removed the blinds from all the windows since the previous owners left two different types of blinds on the windows and the bare windows are an improvement, but not ideal. I’m thinking a nice natural shade (bamboo maybe) and drapes in a natural linen.

  42. John May 2, 2012 | 12:20 pm

New window treatments everywhere! Just moved into a new place with significant windows and french doors on front and back. Feel like we’re currently living in a fishbowl!

We desperately need new window treatments in our master. We still have the Ikea shades and flimsy sheers from my husband’s bachelor days…

  53. Meghan E. May 2, 2012 | 2:27 pm

My husband and I are newlyweds and recently bought a 106-year old home near Denver. We would love new window treatments for our living room, which features an odd-sized window.

  54. Jenny Lee May 2, 2012 | 2:35 pm

Currently we are in a loft style condo with one very large and tall wall of windows. With the southern heat upon us, we need to let the light in without the heat. A bold statement would be a fantastic look for the rather blah space.

  55. Belle on Heels May 2, 2012 | 2:59 pm

I just “liked” them on Facebook. And we could seriously use them in our master bedroom. We’re in a rental and the shades in our bedroom are outdated and warped. Ick!

  56. Anonymous May 2, 2012 | 3:02 pm

I have 11 windows that all need new window treatments but with 3 cats, there are problems with curtains and dangling cords.
Two windows are in the living room, three each in the two bedrooms and two in the kitchen.

Oh my! I have five windows in my bedroom with metal (!) blinds! I haven’t been able to afford to do anything else with them because there are so darn many! I would love love to have new window treatments to soften the harsh light. Not to mention doing away with the tangled up cords! Please!

  61. Neal May 2, 2012 | 3:48 pm

We need some window treatment on our master bedroom…and quick! Haha

  62. heatherp May 2, 2012 | 4:02 pm

Hunter Douglas is my go-to for all our shades and blinds. we just installed 7 HD bamboo shades in the mudroom … so simple and chic against antique cherry floors. I love the added element of texture to any room. Next is the master bedroom and bath.

  63. mmltd May 2, 2012 | 4:07 pm

what a great way to lure me off the couch and really look at my sad and “were here when i moved in” window “treatments”! i live in a huge dark and cavelike loft which while it needs window treatments also needs the sparse light from the only windows in the space…all on one wall…yikes! my creative juices are begining to flow at the thought of perusing the new HD ipad app!
    thanks HC & HD!
    mm

  64. Peggy Pardo May 2, 2012 | 4:19 pm

My whole house could use new treatments. We painted all the trim white, but the blinds still match the old beige trim color.

  65. eekat May 2, 2012 | 4:56 pm

My kitty romper room needs new window treatments- the mini-blinds have seen better days…

  66. artluvr May 2, 2012 | 5:24 pm

Fabulous timing! We are just starting a major master bedroom/bath renovation, and lots of windows plus 2 skylights are involved, so we could use the help! Already have Hunter Douglas shades elsewhere in the house and we love them.

Love this post, but find, where curtains and shades are paired, hanging the shades just below the curtain rod is the look I prefer, rather than leaving a lot of headspace between rod and top of shade.

  67. Anonymous May 2, 2012 | 5:27 pm

  70. S. ocenas May 2, 2012 | 5:38 pm

My husband and I are unable to afford new window treatments because he is unemployeds and with the recent birth of daughter, lumen, we are in desperate need to have window treatments in the bedroom we are all in one room and the light is bright and I’m afraid it hurts her eyes because she squints when the light comes in her crib. It would be a great help for us to recieve treatments for our room. Thank you!

  71. Summer Haven May 2, 2012 | 6:13 pm

As of yesterday, could use some window treatments in my Florida room. My landscaper got carried away trimming the trees, now I have a full view of the neighbors house. And vice versa.

Perfect post as usual and perfect timing for me. We are moving from our west end high rise apartment to a small cottage close toour beloved Forest Park and it has no window treatment. I love the matchstick blinds in all the rooms and am sure Hunter Douglas has dozens of ideas for us, as well. Thank you

Looking to replace the shades in my living room with woven woods.

  75. Barbara May 2, 2012 | 10:43 pm

We need them the most in our newly renovated family room. The huge triple windows we’ve just installed overlook our beautiful Thrushwood Lake, but all of that glorious sun is going to fade my hardwoods and upholstery fast. So glad you posted on the woven blinds! I’ve been leaning in this direction, and you’ve convinced me to take the plunge! My next stop is to get the app! Thanks, Heather, you’re adorable!

  76. Beverly May 2, 2012 | 10:45 pm

    My bedroom…thanks for the contest!

  77. Barbara May 2, 2012 | 10:50 pm

We need window treatments most in our newly renovated family room which overlooks our picturesque Thrushwood Lake. Our huge triple windows bathe our room in light, but all those UV rays are going to quickly fade my new hardwoods and upholstery. So glad you posted on the woven shades. I’ve been leaning in this direction, and you have convinced me to take the plunge! Thanks, Heather, you’re adorable!

  78. The Lost Muse May 2, 2012 | 10:58 pm

Oh yes, please! I have a single with 4 windows in 2 rooms, so either could use something other than the boring white standard blinds in there now. Thank you so much!!

  79. lisa walsh | allied ASID May 3, 2012 | 1:43 am

In our adjacent living and family rooms, I could hang lined linen curtain panels from rods and rings, installed at ceiling height. Then, I could mount Hunter Douglas Provenance Woven Wood Shades right under the rods to conceal the space between the window header and the ceiling, and to accentuate the ceiling height.

  80. Lauren May 3, 2012 | 1:49 am

Would love some new blinds for the living and bed rooms in my rental!

  81. Lesa McMahon May 3, 2012 | 2:18 am

Actually, every room needs new window treatments but if I have to choose, I’d pick the living room first.

Hi! My home has two bare windows in our family room. I am a grandmother of four children who came to live with me a year & a half ago. So the window treatments need to be “kid proof” as the kids are 2, 4, 6 & 8!

Wow, what a fantastic giveaway. We’ve been living with my father while periodically travelling to Spain for my husband’s work. My father has been in desperate need of window treatments for his kitchen. I redid the kitchen for him while recovering from thyroid cancer so the room has special meaning for me, but doing window treatments was a bit too much to deal with at the time. Now, several years later, the only embellishment they see is the occasional spider web.

We would LOOOOOVE new shades for our master bedroom. It would replace our very tired white wood
blinds. We just had a flood downstairs and in the process of putting it back together. We have been living upstairs for 5 months and new shades would be a welcome change!

  88. hygge May 3, 2012 | 4:09 pm

Good timing! I actually need window coverings throughout my house after a complete remodel of my 1920s home. Coincidentally I was just at the store looking at the Provenance Woven Wood Shades. Thank you for the giveaway!

  89. gaequus May 3, 2012 | 4:26 pm

We could use new window treatments in the guest bedroom. I feel bad each time I have a guest over and they have to dress/undress in the bathroom for any privacy. Not mention I’m sure they would feel more relaxed not having the neighbors looking directly at them.

  90. Britney Sauer May 3, 2012 | 7:33 pm
