My Paris Street Style Muse

If you have been wondering why my posts have been going up late if at all, it’s because in between working on projects, I’ve been making countless visits to the tailor and cobbler in preparation for my summer sojourn in Paris. Packing for four months is infinitely harder than packing for a week or two. A lot of you have also asked if I will be posting my outfits and what I’m packing.  I will definitely try my hardest since I think I’ve finally put together some fool proof outfits that can work for the varying European weather.
My main street style muse for what to wear has been French fashion editor Virginie Mouzat, mostly because we have a similar hair color. That’s where the similarities end though since I’m pretty sure her legs are a foot longer than mine. (Although we both do cite Catherine Deneuve as one of our style icons but then again, who doesn’t.) I have been following her fashion lead of dark blazers mixed with slim jeans or trousers and an occasional skirt, topped off with a chic coat and cool shoes.  Sometimes she adds a little bit of a print but not very often. She also mixes navy and black which I was happy to see.  I just bought a navy lightweight cashmere coat with black leather sleeves from Barney’s New York private label (unfortunately, it’s not online) that will be perfect for the still chilly Paris weather.  And once it and everything else is back from the tailor, I can finally put those outfit posts together too.

Remember that you’re not journeying to the hinterlands. Anything you need will be available in Paris. And more fun to get there, too!

She’s absolutely beautiful – thanks so much for posting about her and how exciting Heather! As another reader said you will be in Paris…and the July sales – those twice a year sales will happen while you are in residence! Oh you are going to have a most exhilarating time. Can’t wait to see your clothes and your posts. Btw – any idea who makes those beautiful suede sandals she is wearing with the ties??

Damn those chic French fashion editors and their je ne sais quoi! It seems that every style pic I’m drawn to lately involves a French editrix. They have a knack for putting the same items together in different ways, and never, I mean NEVER over-styling their ensembles.

    A great style icon, Heather!
