I have Kate Betts to thank for suggesting the new book Mistakes Were Made (Some in French). She posted it on her Instagram account and also has a blurb on the cover “Any Francophile with a Hollywood crush will devour this wonderful sexy story.” I can attest that she was right. My copy arrived yesterday and I’m already hooked. I was going to save it for my Memorial Day trip but I think I will be finished before I leave.

Mistakes Were Made (Some in French) was written by British former model and actress Fiona Lewis who started to question in her 50’s that she hadn’t accomplished as much as she would have liked despite her enviable married life in Hollywood. So she did what any woman with time on her hands would do, she convinced her husband to buy a run down chateau in the South of France and set about restoring it over 10 years. What resulted in a beautiful home, a blog, and the book that will leave you entranced.

For further reading, check out the chateau in the August 2016 issue of World of Interiors.

Thank you for pointing this out. Her château isn’t far from me. I love reading about other people’s renovations, especially now that mine is done.

The blue marble fireplace in the bathroom is beautiful!
