It’s fitting that the word “home” is in the title of Home Again since homes play a major part of the films by Nancy Meyers such as The Holiday, Something’s Gotta Give, and It’s Complicated. This time though she’s the producer and her daughter Hallie Meyers-Shyer is the writer and director.

Home Again stars Reese Witherspoon as Alice Kinney who has recently separated from her husband played by Michael Sheen in New York. She decides to start over by moving back home to her mother house in Los Angeles with her two young daughters. Her mother is played by the forever iconic Candice Bergen. On her 40th birthday, “Alice meets three aspiring filmmakers who happen to be in need of a place to live. Alice agrees to let the guys stay in her guest house temporarily, but the arrangement ends up unfolding in unexpected ways. Alice’s unlikely new family and new romance comes to a crashing halt when her ex-husband shows up, suitcase in hand.”

One Kings Lane has a look at the quintessential California Spanish home which is, of course, an important component of the film. “The house is really a character in this movie. It had to have a magical feeling to it… It’s where Alice grew up, and in the film it’s the place where everyone wants to be—it’s where 80% of the movie was shot—so it needed to be perfect,” say Meyers-Shyer. The house in Brentwood actually used to be owned by Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber and was even featured in Elle Decor.
