Chateau de Luxeube

I’ve started reading a lot of magazines online to cut down on them piling up but one that I always pick up at the newsstand is Town & Country. I love the luxury and sophistication mixed with a little cheeky humor. The April 2018 issue is full of beautiful features but my favorite is a look inside the de Taillac Chateau de Luxeube in the Gascony region of France.

I will always have a spot spot for the de Taillac family since they are who I rented my apartment from when I lived in Paris. One of the first places I went after arriving was Buly 1803 the chic beauty store recently opened by Victoire de Taillac and Ramdane Touhami. He asked me where I was staying so I told him but mentioned that I needed to find my own place. He said they had an apartment. It was complete serendipity. The apartment was a renovated modern space that was probably the former chambre de bonne on the top floor of a building a stone’s throw from Le Bon Marché which was luckily accessible via elevator which is not usually the case. It was in the same building as the family matriarch Marie-Cécile de Taillac so I would often see her children and grandchildren coming and going.

Marie-Cécile and her late husband have raised a create and worldly family of five children including jewelry designer Marie-Hélène de Taillac and book publisher Pierre de Tallac. Every summer the clan descends on the family home chateau de Luxeube in the Auch countryside which has been home to many family events and weddings. My only criticism of the article is that it doesn’t show more of the home. I did manage to find a few old historical photos but a shelter magazine really needs to do a proper interior design story. We need to see more.
