Veere Grenney in Tangier

The most memorable trip I’ve ever taken was to Morocco. We spent a week driving down the coast from Casablanca to Essaouira, then to the low Atlas mountains before we ended up in Marrakech. One place we did not visit was Tangier since it sits on the northern coast. It’s always been on my must visit list but it’s just jumped up to the top after seeing interior designer Veere Grenney‘s house in the April 2018 issue of Architectural Digest.

Veere first visited Morocco at the age of 23 and met a former alum of Colefax and Fowler so it seems rather fitting that this house in Tangier is filled with Colefax and Fowler fabrics. The rooms also includes many of his own designs in a colonial mix of styles rooted in English country house comfort.

A very exciting thing mentioned in the article is the upcoming September publication of Veere Grenney’s first book Veere Grenney: A Point of View with a foreword by Hamish Bowles. I can’t wait to pick it up and hopefully attend a book signing if I’m not on another trip to Morocco.

N.B. My lovely Instagram friend AlexanderHoyle @kewplantsman just informed me that he’ll be at Veere’s house in Tangier this weekend. He promises to post lots of photos on Instagram and Stories so definitely follow him to see more.
