It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!

As I was saying before my computer decided to stage a revolt, I attended the launch of the Tony Duquette book and the holiday window unveiling party at Bergdorf Goodman Wednesday night. The windows were inspired by Tony Duquette and all I can say is the Bergdorf’s has outdone themselves! They always have the most elegant, stylish, creative, interesting holiday windows but these are beyond beautiful. The leopard carpet was pretty crowded so I didn’t get as many photos as I would have liked. I think I may have to go back and take more detail shots because there is so much to look at and take in. I think the elephant might be my favorite.

The party was obviously the social event of the holiday season since it was packed to the gills with the fashionable and the fabulous. Linda Fargo of Bergdorf’s looked amazing in her Duquette inspired ensemble. There were also a bevy of designers there to buy the special $250 limited edition boxed Tony Duquette book. I saw Antony Todd, John Barman and Steven Gambrel, who my friend and I chatted up. He really is the nicest man. Even Caroline Kennedy and her husband showed up!

If you happen to be in New York over the holidays, you must make a special trip to see the windows at Bergdorf’s! And if you can’t, you must definitely buy the Tony Duquette book. Either way, you will definitely be inspired by the most creative man who ever lived!

I will buy the book but, meanwhile I will enjoy the wonderful Christie’s catalouge of The Duquette Collections which were auctioned off in March 2001,it is a wonderful catalogue and I am glad that I saved it!

Thanks again and have a great weekend!

RJH dl H, You are too sweet! Thanks! I love to take photos and I definitely plan to post more of my own photos soon.

You are so lucky to own the Christie’s Duquette catalog. I’ve been looking for that one. I saw a copy at William Wayne recently but it was a bit expensive so I passed on it. I may have to go back now!

Fairfax, you have to check out the 7th floor of Bergdorf’s too when you visit. I was there today and there was so much to look at!

Thank you so much for posting!! I absolutely love Bergdorf’s windows. I am so sad I don’t get to see them in person this year. Last year’s were lovely too, I drooled over them until my husband pulled me away. 😉 What a fun party that must have been! Thanks again for sharing.

Oh Mrs. Blandings, you have no idea! The party was amazing but much too crowded to take photos but now I’m wishing I had tried. I saw Diana Vreeland’s son the Budhist monk there. Now that was a great sighting!

Mrsplainjane, the Bergdorf windows are always my favorite. They are so elegant and I can’t get over how much they manage to cram into them! Their team is amazing!

Can’t wait to be there in a couple of weeks to check it out for myself! Thanks for the preview–it looks like an amazing set up this year.

I just walked over to see the windows, but thanks for the photos — I am telling friends who don’t live in NYC to check them out. I loved the little window with the deer with white antlers — it’s harder to find images of the small windows.
