Au Currant

Every time I burn a Votivo Red Currant candle, I immediately think of the Mayle store on Elizabeth Street in Soho. Long before I moved to New York, I visited the store with a friend and we both feel in love with the candles they were burning in the shop. The smell is so unique and Votivo candles are not only beautiful but very reasonably priced. A perfect compliment to the fabulous frocks that are designed by Jane Mayle. Her apartment below is also lust worthy. I’d kill for those shelves and textiles. But I guess when you consider her provenance, it’s no wonder she has such great taste. C’est la vie.

There is something irresistable about floor to ceiling bookshelves.

I’m a huge fan of Votivo’s Deep Clover: it smells like one of those grassy South African sauvignon blancs.

Alice Olive, I hope to have floor to ceiling book shelves one day like Jane Mayle and Diane von Furstenberg!

Jesicola, The Crisp Clean White scent is nice for summer and beach houses. I also have the Moroccan Fig hand soap that I love but I haven’t bought a candle yet.

The Quarter Rat, I haven’t smelled that one yet. I’m going to have to check it out! Thanks for the suggestion!

That red currant is my favorite! I’ve tried many others, inc. several Diptyques, and always go back to that one. You have great taste too. 🙂

At the holidays, try burning Red Currant with their Forest. Unbelievable, trust.
