Bachelors on the Brain

I’ve been hearing that Steven Gambrel had posted new photos on his website so I finally decided to check them out today. I was instantly attracted to this Tribeca Loft. The color combinations are to die for as is the art collection and beautiful custom carpets. On the website, I learned that it was featured in the November 2007 issue of Elle Decor and it turns out it’s owned by a bachelor banker who returned from five years abroad in London to work on Wall Street and wanted a more soulful apartment than his previous New York apartment. I think he definitely got what he asked for and then some. It’s perfection. I’m not sure who I’m more in love with, Steven Gambrel for designing it or the banker for having the sense to commission it. I wonder if anyone knows who he is. I’m seriously swooning!

I’m surprised with all your connections you don’t know who the owner is! 😉

Seriously though, it is an amazing apartment. Up there in my all time favorites – there is nothing I would change if I moved in.

Isn’t that a wondefully cohesive design. That lovely mustard colour throughout really is striking. It was one of my favourite homes from the site.

What a winner. Not a bachelor but would happily move right in.

Suzy, Me too! I’m going to have to work on that!

That issue of Elle Decor was so chock full of fabulous designs that I feel like I overlooked this one. I’m so glad I saw it again. I love it!

Thanks Fifi! I’m not sure how much more I can show if I want to get it published but I’ll see what I can do!

Kristine, Mustard yellow is a seriously overlooked color! It looks fabulous here!

London Calling, I’m not a bachelor either but I would absolutely move in as is! I love it!

Now, who says money can’t buy good taste.
Bachelor, not for long with those digs. However – I still think when you reveal your design talents, you are on a par.

Steven Gambrel is the master of good taste. His town house in the West Village is the most beautiful New York town house I have ever seen.

Never a fan of the mustard/gold color, but it really works here. It’s beautiful.

I’m so in love with that closet that I swear, I’d be happy just to live in there. Of course, not being a guy, I’d have to replace those shirts with some Louboutins.

Love the living area. This would be the look I will want my place to feel like once I am done with decor….

Fabulous!! Love everything about this apartment, and the color combinations are perfect!!(Actually I have the same colors in my livingroom, except the gold details, so no I’m on a mission to add that ;-))

I love that he agrees with me that a lamp looks best with about an inch or so of the neck actually showing. Most people drop the shade down just over the body of the lamp, which I think makes it look like a hat thats too big.

What a rgreat talent he is. It is probably oozing out of his pores. Isn’t it wonderful when the closet is given as much attention, if not more, than the public areas? It just shows how much thought went into the whole project. Love it.
