Unlike most Americans, I will be laboring over the long Labor Day holiday weekend. I have a lot of irons in the fire so I need do some work and get myself organized. I’m a little bummed but I knew that forgoing vacations this summer might be necessary and if all goes well, I will be able to take some fabulous ones next year! What’s funny is that it feels like just yesterday that I posted some photos from the first Hamptons Cottages and Gardens magazine of the season and now summer is almost over! Times flies! So as a last hurrah, I’m posted photos from Hamptons Havens: The Best of Hamptons Cottages and Gardens published in 2005. The book contains a great mix of traditional and modern homes to die for as usual. Hope you enjoy your holiday weekend whatever you are doing…or not doing!

love that pale shade of blue on the bedroom walls. blues are tricky, they can easily read as nursery baby blue.

Can i just say, I LOVE YOUR BLOG. My husband and I just bought a 1920’s house and I swear I mark/star your posts all the time for design ideas. You have an amazing eye for picking out spaces that have modern elegance.

Your blog arrives in my mailbox each morning and it is such a wonderful way to start the day. Your cheerful demeanor and gorgeous photos get me out of bed and down to my desktop so I can see everything in big, colorful glory. Your better than my alarm clock!

Jennifer, Blue is my favorite color for bedrooms. It is so soothing but you’re right, you have to be careful with the shade.

My Guilt Trip, That is the best compliment ever! It’s so sweet that everyone loves to read my blog first thing in the morning. It’s what keeps me motivated to try to post something everyday even if I am exhausted and don’t know what to write about!

I know it made the rounds awhile ago but the best blue ever I think is the one on Carrie’s new walls from SITC. I don’t actually watch TV, but I am assuming it is the new season being that it was posted all over the place all at once. I also have read that sleeping in a blue bedroom makes for the best sleep. It is a very relaxing colour.

I like these rooms, but the zebra head is just creepy. Just my opinion… LOL

I do really like the softness of the last two photos. I like the simple look… that is what a vacation or cottage lifestyle reminds me of. Simplicity.

This Hampton’s home looks as if it could be Nina Griscom’s. I love the simplicity but perhaps there are too many animal parts going on….

I can just hear the waves crashing. Soft breez billowing curtains. Oh I need a vacation. Lovely rooms. Kathy
