Charlotte Moss Townhouse Closing Sale!
by habituallychic
11 . 10 . 08Starting today, the Charlotte Moss Townhouse will prepare for it’s November 25th closing by offering 50% off antiques and 70% off new pieces. Perfect timing for the holidays although, I will be sad to see them close. It’s such a beautiful store! I just hope it doesn’t become something depressing now like a BabyGap!

Oh dear – thats sad. Is it a sign of the times? It hadn’t been open that long – right? There are so many design stores closing their doors in Los Angeles. A little scary.
Do you know why the items on the website haven’t been marked down? I’ve been eyeing the Il Prato “Clouds” desk set, but it’s pretty pricey.
I never actually had the pleasure of seeing the store in person, but I did order some of her note pads with quotes… I just checked site to order more but now there are only napkins… would you know how to find more pads?
Will the sale be online too?
Charlie – She opened the store in April 2007. It was a large townhouse so she must not have had enough sales to keep it operational. Very sad.
Mamacita – She is keeping the online store so maybe it has a different inventory than the store. You should call the store and see if they have it on sale there and will send it to you. Good luck!
The Sweet Life – The notepads are very popular so she might just be out of them. I would call and see if she is getting more. As I suggested to Mamacita, you might want to call the store and see if they have them too.
Anonymous – she will continue the online store and that might have different inventory than the townhouse so it might not go on sale.
Isn’t “something depressing like a babygap” a line from the Meg Ryan flick You’ve Got Mail? Ha!
I recognized the line from ‘you’ve got mail’ as well, but you beat me to it Anonymous. I ADORED this store when I visited last month (and blogged about) and was surprised it was closing. The prices weren’t really any worse than any of the other upscale boutiques around. I saw a lot of ‘sold’ tickets on items as well! I truly believe C.M. when she says she closed it due to not having the time to operate it ‘right’. As it’s on a quiet side street, I don’t see it becoming anything too terribly depressing though 😉
Anonymous 9:24am – I was wondering if someone was going to get that quote! I love that movie!
Architect Design – I was wondering if someone offered to buy the townhouse to make it their private residence. I’ll have to keep walking by after it closes to see what it becomes.
One of my first jobs in Manhattan was at the townhouse. It is an exquisite store with so many loyal clients, but I truly believe that CM does not have time to operate it.
I like your quote 🙂
will there be a sale online as well?
Are you sure that CM will be selling the townhouse??? or just closing the retail aspect of it?
I just found out that you’ve got mail (which is one of my all time favorite movies set in NYC), is a re-make of a 1940’s movie, I believe it’s called “The shop around the corner”. The movie is showing sometime between now and sunday on Turner Classic Movies….. I love to see the original old movies that inspire our beloved remakes….
i like the You’ve Got Mail reference. 😉
i actually was in NYC 2 weeks ago and went to Charlotte Moss not knowing she was closing. i guess i just missed the store. boo hoo.
