Kips Bay Decorator Showhouse 2009 Update

As I mentioned recently, this year’s Kips Bay Decorator Showhouse is a tribute to Albert Hadley and last week the participating designers were announced. Mario Buatta and Charlotte Moss will serve as honorary chairs and in addition, Ms. Moss and team will design a three-room Master Suite. Some of the other designers include Bunny Williams, Christopher Coleman, Jamie Drake, Joe Nye, Juan Montoya and Gloria Vanderbilt. Yes, I said Gloria Vanderbilt. I didn’t realize she dabbled in design beyond jeans but a little research turned up an interesting post by An Aesthete’s Lament about her decorating ability. Should be a very interesting showhouse this year!

In other news, I heard that the owners of the Charlotte Moss Townhouse will be leasing the space to designer Monique Lhuillier so it seems that Ms. Moss is in need of some new office space. With all the empty offices and store fronts in the city right now, I’m sure she won’t have any trouble.

The Charlotte has actually always had two offices. The townhouse office played host to herself, and her CFO as well as both of their assistants (of which I had the pleasure to be one), and of course the store manager and merchandisers had an office off the dinning room on the second floor.

However, the actual design team had their own office much closer to Charlotte’s actual home. The office on the exterior is an unremarkable white building, the interior is of course fantastic. I can’t remember the exact address, but it is on the Upper East Side relatively close to 65th and 3rd.

Their used to be a home an interiors store that had the corner window front store, and then as you walk up 65th (I think) there was a small door granting access to the offices above.

Scott – I can’t wait to hear the rest! I’m sure they are just as fabulous!

Always Me – I will do my best!

Prepster – The 65th Street and Lexington Avenue office is where I interviewed and it’s also the same street that I live on. I heard they gave up that space already so they can’t move back there. I saw a for rent sign on the door too. I’ll keep you posted if I hear anything else.

I would love to see this House, but NYC is unfortunately not on my plans at the moment.
It is always a great experience, for instance last year I went to San Francisco for the Decorator Showcase…what an inspiration.
Looking forward to a Post on New York Showcase

I was unaware they gave that space up… now I’m interested to see where they end up!
