Habitually Chic Trademark

I didn’t realize that adding the trademark symbol to my blog name was going to cause such a ruckus! Seems everyone has questions so I thought I would address them. I actually registered the name Habitually Chic with the United States Patent and Trademark Office to protect it and to also make it easier to get back my domain name that was bought by a cyber squatter. I advise any business owner or blogger to trademark the name of your company or blog as well as logo to protect your yourself. Since my registration is still pending, I must use the TM symbol. Once I have my official registration documentation, I will then be able to us the R in the circle symbol. You can apply for a trademark online but I advise you to read over all the information provided by the US Patent and Trademark Office before you begin. Good luck!

Hi Heather, I thought it was so cool that you took out a trade mark, love the little logo at the end. Thanks for the information.

It’s funny. Since you added the tm, I’ve noticed a couple of other bloggers adding it, too.

Good business move! Last week my business consultant had me process mine as well! Seems like the smart thing to do!

    H-

    how awful.
i hate when things like that happen.

we all should do something to protect ourselves.

    thank you so much

Maison21 – don’t worry, you were one of many 😉

    Mary – you’re welcome!

    Pigtown Design – I guess I am a trendsetter 😉

Willow Decor/Gina – it’s definitely worth checking out!

Stefan/Architect Design – no worries! I am happy to help!

PVE – unless I redo the whole thing in PhotoShop, it all has to be blue. I have been thinking about a new header but I have a business to run so it’s not at the top of my list 😉

    Paloma – welcome!

Mrs. G – it’s good for any business or blog!

Ronda – I applied a month ago but just added the TM symbol. I guess it was a coincidence that you added yours the next day.

Renee – I had no idea what the blog was going to become but I guess someone else did since they bought the domain! I bet I even know who they are which is even worse!

Katie – you should definitely trademark your name in case you want to create a line or products later!

    Laura – welcome!

Royal Apothic – I was close to the front and was in full shopping mode! Maybe I’ll see you at the next one!

This is great advice. I had been contemplating trademarking my “frillows” aka friends of little willow and now I definitely will. Thanks!
