Williams Sonoma at Home

I was leafing through the March 2008 issue of House Beautiful when I saw a photo of chairs on a stair landing that reminded me of the new Williams-Sonoma Home store in New York. When I looked closer, one of the names of the designers, David DeMattei, sounded familiar. Then I realized that he is the group president for Williams-Sonoma and I actually met him at the opening party last fall. The home has a Williams-Sonoma feeling but is not a literal translation of the store. I’m swamped with work so for more information, you can check out the details at House Beautiful online. Bon Weekend!

I saw it online & thought..no wonder I’m sooo addicted to their line. His taste is impeccable. I actually enjoy the sprinkling of sunny yellows. Yellow & I are not friends but here we’re buddies.
Still nutz about the the blue & whites though….

Love all of these photos and the indications that depth of design is returning to current interiors. I know that we are going to lag a little in Los Angeles, but the warmth of these interiors will catch on soon. Thanks.
    Have a great week-end!

I was absolutely in love with the house when I saw it in HB, but I have to disagree that it’s not a literal translation – it’s as close as you can get. Looking at the resources and general feel, 99% of all the major pieces came from WS (and, of course, it looks great).

I remember that House Beautiful issue well. That makes sense because I thought it looked like WS Home as well.

    Love it!

    HC- We are huge fans!
If you love this house you should also check out Dave and Patrick’s gorgeous place in Napa which was in House Beautiful’s May 2009 issue.

    Hi Heather-

Wonderful post on David and Patrick–who are indeed very talented and very devoted to design, and are very worldly and well-traveled partners.

Williams Sonoma Home is a superb catalog (head office is in San Francisco))–and it is worth noting that more than 20 per cent of clients are designers. Designers understand the quality–and that you can fast-order custom upholstery. Great to know.

Wow- classic but contemporary and dynamic..don’t want to seem too mystical or w/e, but life energy seems to flow comfortably above and around the curves, flourishes and arabesques…

I want to create rooms like these! I particularly love the stacked crockery. It’s so country chic!

delightful! i’ll have you know this post solved a few problems for me! I was having issues with a deep mantle and 2 blank walls on either side of the fireplace. since my color schemes are so similar to the posted photos, i was able to really get a feel for what simple book shelving might do for the problem area! yours are helpful posts for a writer with limited visualization skills!!! thanks!
