Happy Birthday Mrs. Herrera

by habituallychic

01 . 09 . 10

Fashion designer Carolina Herrera celebrated her birthday this past Friday (71 is clearly the new 51!) and still looks just as chic as she did when she was a young girl. As you can tell from the photos, she found her style early on and stuck with it. She is the epitome of grace and elegance but she also looks like she knows how to have a good time. In a day when thigh baring dresses are the norm, she is and will always be my style idol! There is something to be said for not only acting like a lady but dressing like one too! Happy Birthday Mrs. Herrera!

she creates is truly maginificent. She is a fashion
icon. Her family is a dynasty… Heather, you’re indeed
correct where you state, ” 71 is the new 51!”

    Love ‘er.

The crisp white button down + enormous skirt look was GOOD. She rocked that pretty frequently.

It is because of Ms Herrera that I’ve such an affinity for white blouses with a popped collar. She is elegance personified. I want to be like her when I grow up!

Side by side with the legendary Babe Paley, Slim Keith, Pauline de Rothschild and my personal favorite, Millicent Rogers – Caroline Herrera is a living legend. Happy Birthday, Carolina! And many more!

By the way, Millicent was the one who in the late 1940s began the rage with white blouses, eye-popping turquoise and Native American jewerlry and long skirts. Way ahead of her, that was Millicent.

Carolina is the definition of elegance and sophistication. Her name should be in a a dictionary as an example of that.
Penelope, Maria Carolina Josephina Pacanins Y Nino, or simply Mrs. Herrera is not Brazilian she Venezuelan.

I just adore her and her white shirts.

I expected her house to be more clean though, didn’t expect such ornateness if that is a word.

I actually interned for her two years ago and she is even more chic in person. Her posture is perfect, class oozes from her and her outfits were always impeccable. Her office is pure glamour, chocolate brown and cream are the colors used throughout the offices, fresh flowers, painting, candles burning… we even had the original Andy Warhol in the design studio. I am so proud to have such a stylish Venezuelan represent us internationally. She is truly admirable!
