The Show Must Go On

I wasn’t sure if I should be posting about the Queen of Clothes or the Golden Globes right after posting about a benefit for Haiti but sometimes we need a little diversion. It doesn’t mean we don’t still care. And as the saying goes, the show must go on.

I can’t think of a better diversion for the day of the Golden Globes than stylist Rachel Zoe and her chic Hollywood home shot by photographer Richard Powers. If you watched her show, The Rachel Zoe Project, on Bravo you might have seen her preparing…I mean completely buying all new furniture at Fendi Casa…for the photo shoot. I can’t remember what magazine it was for but I found the photos on the blog Welcome Home: A Guide to Modern Living . The author is a friend of the photographer and also has a great little interview with Rachel. The interiors are modern but they complement the architecture. I actually like the clean look. It’s just as stylish as the celebrities she dresses and speaking of celebs, I can’t wait to see how they all look on the red carpet Sunday night. I think it’s always nice to see them all dressed up and looking like movie stars instead of wearing Uggs and sweatpants on the way to Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf! But if Rachel has anything to do with it, I’m sure they’ll all look bananas!

Ahhhh it looks like a Richard Neutra house—the architecture alone makes me drool! And that big white sectional is so sunny southern California. I love the clean lines of it mixed with its comfy factor—I want to curl up and take a nap wrapped in that Missoni throw! Love it. Love her.

heather, there is no point in a post on rachel zoe, without a completely gratuitous photo of her cute little assistant, brad. unbelievable but true: sometimes, decor is not enough.

    please fix. 😉

(and ok, i lied- forget the cute boy pics. decor IS enough).

Great architecture & design. She has a great profession. I of course would love to see more art on several walls! Karena!

Love her home..and hope she is A-Okay… hate how the tabloids pounced on her and Roger in St. Barts.. have to admit..I was startled by the images of her …. so tiny…If that is her normal frame.. then so be it..but I hope she is okay if it isn’t.. Love her passion for fashion!!! she is an inspiration !

A little to mono-chrom for me (to live in – love to see it though), but I love seeing the personal effects. The photo of her in the yellow dress through the window is stunning, a great angle.

I love her home and gardens; interior–not so much. It seems a little flat. Interesting post.

Am a fan of Rachels and the show. Although was shocked to see she moved to an apartment and out of this beautiful place. Am thinking it was for business reasons?
    Thanks for the post.

Kate – It’s funny how I don’t really like modern design but it looks perfect in this home. Something about the sunny climate that makes less look better! I love her too!

Maison21 – Ha! He is super cute! You live in LA, you could stalk him too!

Karena – I didn’t even see the walls because I was too busy being jealous over all those windows!

Ivy Lane – She is a bit then but as you could see from her show, she runs around working all day. I absolutely love her passion for fashion. It’s so nice to see someone who loves what they do!

Splendid Market – I hear you on the monochrome but again, I think it works for the setting. If I moved from NYC to LA, I’d probably have to change my style to suit the feeling in LA.

Mary – It’s not for everyone. I was surprised that it was so clean since she piles on clothing and vintage jewelery.

Simply Luxurious – As far as I know, she moved just the business to a new address not her home. I think it was due to the flood and for added security.

    Heather,

Love Rachel Zoe and this house is phenomenal. Thanks for sharing. All the windows are amazing. It’s like the outside is in. Beautiful.

Love her show…, and hope too that she’s fine, meaning less stressed out. So many times passion turns into pressure. Her house is awesome, it’s all about the windows!

I think she did move… they show “rachel’s apt” when she is home and it used to be “rachel’s house”…

Anyway, I love her, but she looks frightening.

My favorite thing in the house is her bed. I think it’s very cool in a chic 70’s boho way.

I am not much of a fan of modern architecture or decor, but she really hit the nail on the head with her home. It’s clean, but I love her pops of color with artwork and the Missoni linens. Thank you for sharing! I remember seeing photos of her home in Vogue years ago and fell in love. She also looks amazing in that yellow dress…one of her better ensembles as of late…

I love RaZoe…. I think she’s great! However, there is no way I could keep a house like that clean. I am a dirt magnet and that poor white couch would be grey within a week!

I ♥ rachel!! she’s ah-mazing. her home is so sleek and pulled together. and i love that yellow dress:)

As elegant and stylish as the lady herself!
Love the sleek lines, and the textures brought through the decor and nicely selected items.
    The shoe rack… *sigh*

All in all an amazingly beautiful and confident home.

    Thanks for the walk-through.

I have a sick fascination with her show. There is something about her personality that you just can’t tune out. In any case, although her home isn’t exactly my style, I think it suits her appropriately. I almost feel as if she needs a neutral backdrop for the amazing clothing and accessories she wears. If she lived in a more cluttered environment, it would all be too much. This way, the clothes are the star – and I’m sure she wouldn’t have it any other way.

I love Rachel Zoe’s home and her business. I love it when women turn something that they truly love into a career and prosper from it. She seems to get a little stressed out at times and maybe her home has finally turned into the “Zen’ experience for her because she certainly needs it.

This is a particularly gorgeous post on a site known for its gorgeous posts; kudos! Very, very nice. Thanks for the inspiration.

(PS: I know what you mean about the “show must go on”; I was a little reluctant to post anything new myself following the awful events in Haiti. I hope my donation helps at least a bit.)

Im sticking up for the modern and clean:) Something so calming about all that tidy space! Lets not forget the views and grounds. Only thing is too much Fendi Casa.

  21. mn January 17, 2010 | 11:09 pm

The architecture I can appreciate, but I do think the decor is lacking warmth! Doesn’t look entirely personalized to me, but then maybe that is her personal style!

  22. Lauren Jade January 17, 2010 | 11:25 pm

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH you just made my LIFE with this post!!!! SOO obsessed with RAchel Zoe and know one understands my obsession. 😀 xx thank you soo much for this post. I would give anything to have 10 minutes with her. especially a tour of her house. I love it.

I’m sorry, but I consider her to be vile and crass and mean. In fact, gross. Sure, the place looks great, but it’s so much merchandise, the same as it’s occupant.

  25. dagmara January 18, 2010 | 3:29 pm

She moved out of this house to a condo after they were broken into. Pity.

I like how clean she keeps everything, minimal visual clutter.
