Does it ever warm up in Chicago? If it does, I may have to book a trip so I can see the Matisse exhibition that opens on March 20th at The Art Institute of Chicago. Matisse: Radical Invention 1913-1917 “examines what is without question the most innovative, momentous, and yet little-studied time in the artist’s long career.” Nearly 120 of his most ambitious and experimental paintings, sculptures, drawings, and prints from the period are on view until June 20, 2010. Matisse is one of my favorite artists and I can already imagine that this will be a spectacular exhibition. Book your tickets now!

Creativity takes courage. – Henri Matisse

I remember your love of Matisse from our college days. He’s one of my favs too. June is a wonderful time to be in Chicago. Shall I meet you there? 😉

Chicago has beautiful weather in May and June–you should definitely visit! I just posted information on my new blog on another must-see exhibit called The Darker Side of Light in Chicago through June:

Matisse has always been my absolute hero. I actually posted an item on him earlier this week as I went to see “From Matisse to Malevich” at The Hermitage Amsterdam. The exhibition includes one of my favourite pieces, the Red Room.
Looks to me that I have to plan a trip to Chicago!

Hope that this exhibition is coming to the UK. I saw a lot of Matisse exhibitions when I was living in Russia as a lot of the Russian museums own his art works. Would love to see some more Matisse again soon. Will look into this.

I’ve recently purchased two Matisse drawings. They both happen to be quite different than the work he’s most known for. I love them and all his work – would love to see the exhibit! Trina
