Mellow Yellow and Grey

I’ve been hearing from a lot of readers that they miss hearing about my design projects. I completely understand and will definitely be posting about them again but not until after they are finished. A top design magazine editor just warned me again last week not to post any photos if I hope to get them published. Not sure if that will actually happen but I’d like to at least try so for now, I’m listening to his advice. But from the beginning, my blog has always been an online version of my inspiration board and right now, I’m inspired by grey and yellow. These are just some of the images that are currently the inspiration for a guest room for one of my projects. I especially love the look of yellow draperies. Enjoy!

Lovely. Thanks for the sunshine. I love yellow with grey. The grey keeps the yellow sophisticated. Good to know about the publishing. It’s only a prayer for now, but food for thought. Pictures can become overused quickly and editors are sharp.

Hi Heather, great advise, can’t wait to see your work published!!

A while back I did a small blog entry on yellow, perhaps, if you have time, you can check it out…?

Alexandra Rae – I also think the yellow brightens up the grey which could get dreary.

Natasha – thanks! I will definitely check it out!

Susan – the rug is from Madeline Weinrib.

Style Curator – Me too! I am obsessed with abstract art from the 1960’s!

yellow + gray are a great pairing- I agree about how it keeps it sophisticated and also keeps it from being too dull.

I love the last painting- her expression can be interpreted in so many ways!

Hi thanks for the post. I just painted one wall in my house a wonderful shade of grey. I will post it tomorrow on my blog. It never occured to me to combine it with yellow, thanks for the tip. Please feel free to have a look at my blog.

I love the yellow–sunshine all year long. The first photo of the bedroom: the accent of the antique moss green velvet chair with black highlighting the gray and yellow is amazing. The depth of the room is so rich and classic. Mary

Of course, we can’t wait to see your work but also want you to get as much coverage/endorsement as possible!

I love these images. Yellow and grey is so elegant. Perhaps the ‘mellow’ or muted aspect is what does that.

Beautiful interiors, gray and yellow always look so great together. My favorite room in this post is the one designed by Amy Smilovic =)

I am obsessing over this combination right now and posted about it a few weeks ago! I even changed my blog header to gray and yellow 🙂 Love love love the inspiration. (and while I would love to see your space, I totally support -and agree- that you should keep the photos of your work a big secret until you ARE published!)

do you know what room that fawn galli picture was taken in? it looks too informal to be taken in the living room.

Good advice given. I do love the yellow and grey combos, maybe maybe one day when the kids are older I could have such a living room. With my toddler running around it’s hard enough to have fresh flowers on the center table. (right now, everything is Hers.:))
