White is Right!

Growing up, the fashion rules dictated that I could not wear white until after Easter. Usually it wasn’t that warm in early spring so I’d wait until at least May to wear white. It’s supposed to reach 80+ degrees in New York on Wednesday, so I’m very tempted to pull out a white dress and I’m looking to these lovely ladies in white for inspiration. I think Demi looks especially beautiful! Enjoy!

We always had to wait until ON or after Memorial Day !! Let’s just hope after this warm spell no “white stuff” falls from the sky!

I am convinced that Demi has made some sort of deal with the devil in order to look so amazing. I know it has been said a million times and is cliched, but she just gets better and better with age.

    I’m ready for white, too!

Ivy Lane – that is the other white rule date but I think 80 degrees calls for white! It has been known to snow in April but I think we’re out of the woods in NYC! Fingers crossed!

Modern Traditionalist – The talk of my trip to LA was Demi Mooore! Someone needs to find out the name of her surgeon! Or maybe she’s just done a lot of fillers and lasers. Whatever the case, she looks AMAZING! But maybe a younger husband helps too!

First, Demi Moore looks uh-maze-ing….I wish I had her clothes budget and her trainer!
I ditched that old “rule” that I also grew up with about 10 years ago. I wear white year round and show bare legs in the winter too. So liberating!

Fabulous! I LOVE wearing white. I remember a Vogue article from around 2005 where the editor tried to wear white all day on the subway and complained about how hard it was. Oh please! Try wearing it every day! But I do – all summer. You can’t be sad in summer white.

I wear white year-round too. Living in the tropics has its rewards. 🙂

A white dress, to me, says youth, spring, freshness…All good things!

I love Demi! You’re so right, she needs to share her secrets & surgeons! 😉 LOVE the white dresses too. I wear white when it starts getting hot, 80 degrees is spot on! ;)- abm

I’m itching to wear white here in Toronto, too. It reached 25 degrees Celsius this Easter weekend (77 Fahrenheit), so believe me, I was tempted. The only thing that stopped me was the small detail of my legs being the same colour as my white dress!

I couldn’t believe it when I saw the weather forecast for this upcoming week in NYC. I am so jealous that I won’t be there! Nothing says summer like a chic white ensemble. Enjoy!

I think its high time I invest in a little white dress of my own. I can’t believe its even warm enough to wear spring dresses again! It’s supposed to be 70+ degrees in Chicago today.. I’m in absolute heaven 🙂

i can never keep white clean and usually stick to a white tee or cardigan but am always envious of how fresh others look in a complete ensemble!

Am I the only one who is simultaneously dreading and dying to see SATC 2? The first one was terrible. I van only imagine how bad this one is going to be, and yet, I will be there waiting on line for seats with prebought tickets.

Love these looks, a simple white dress is so glamorous! Can’t wait till Vancouver weather allows for this 🙂 PS. the photo of SJP reminds me how excited I am for the SATC sequel coming up!

I have lived in MD and PA and the rule for wearing white used to be after Memorial Day, but in recent years it seems to have shifted to after Easter.
Yes, Demi does get better with age and while good trainers might help, I do believe it’s the younger husband that keeps her young. I recently married a younger man and can vouch for the positive effects on my health and outlook on life!

Its 2010, let’s throw all of our mother’s fashion rules to the wind!

Does Demi drink the blood of virgins? Sign me up for her plastic surgeon. Seriously that woman is HOT.

Love the look of white. So beautiful and crisp and elegant, but I always worry I’ll dirty it.

Here in Chicago, I took my white elie tahari trench out of the closet today! We must all be ready for summer…

The trend toward wearing white from Easter on (or year-round) has even crept up on Richmond, VA! I’m not in favour of it really. There’s gotta be something to look forward to as heat-relief. (Besides, it does help to have a little colour to the skin.) It was hard to resist when the temps topped 90º a couple of times last week. I made do with a crisp white shirt and very light khakis and tropical wool light grey trousers.
