Bibliophile Bookcases

Every week, I tell myself that I’m not going to buy any more books and of course, every week I buy another book. I just can’t help myself. I love all the pretty photos and wonderful stories. Some are silly summer beach reads and others are highly sought after collectibles but I love them all the same. Only problem is that I’m running out of bookshelves. I can’t wait until the day that I have a house big enough to have an entire room devoted to books and have already started an inspiration file devoted to the project. These are just some of my favorites. I’m still amazed at Karl Lagerfeld’s massive collection. Thank goodness I don’t have that many! I wonder when he finds time to actually read them! Enjoy!

Love books too…an obsession I’m afraid! I have gobs of bookcases & I’m constantly struggling with how to keep them looking fabulous when we pull books off of them daily. And, of course, they never go back from where they came. Love these photos. Will go in the bookcase file pronto. Hope you have a great week.

I’ve always wanted wall covered book shelves as well, it is such a beautiful and sophisticated way to fill a room. Thanks for sharing these photos, especially of Karl and Mr. Louboutin’s collections!

Something about this post is so enchanting… I love the way these literary collections add such character to the rooms they’re in. Wonderful! Thanks for the post!

I did it! I just installed my own private library wall, and just organized my design books…
I could just sit back and look at them, they make me so happy + so much fun styling the shelves (but I am sure that will get old fast…)

I have books everywhere. I would fill a house with them not one room.

The Louboutin and Costa shelves are my favourites. Our love for books and bookshelves mean that printed books will never disappear, Kindles and Ipads notwithstanding. E-readers however are great for beach reads etc; keeps your shelves attractive!

Me, too! I told myself I was going on a “book diet” and “shoe diet” this summer, but I have failed miserably at both. Love Francisco Costa’s shelves.

Books are my favorite! I just got the Valentino book — pink dress on cover — perfect addition to my living room!

OK WOW! – i’m not much of a book reader – i only read books that have some sort of meaning in my life – NOW if this was about magazines, it would be a whole nother story!

but i LOVE how books “LOOK” in a house – almost makes you instantly smarter – haha

I love the Domino office space/library. but Richard Meier and Karl Lagerfeld–too much acquisition obscures the view. Thanks and have asuper week. Mary

As much as I love my kindle…and my soon to be i-pad…hard to argue with the “chicness” that is… this post!

I’m a total book whore too! I buy way too many and am on a book buying hiatus at the moment. We run out of space all the time, so I donate mine to a charity second hand bookstore at the Humane Society. It saves a tree and a puppy at the same time! Though when we permanently settle somewhere, I’m sure I’ll keep more of them.

I love books and I require more book shelves. Am I the only one to worry what Nook and Kindles are going to do to our the wonderful bookshelves in the future?

  21. Trace June 8, 2010 | 4:30 pm

Sometimes bookshelves can be completely overlooked as a design statement, so I was thrilled to see you drawing people’s attention to them. I love seeing my clients expressions after I rearrange their libraries. Instant makeovers are the best!

love bookcases, but prefer when they are styled and have a few pieces of art mixed in.

Oh my husband is an author, his book shelves are ridiculous, we have to clear out every 6 months otherwise we’d be living in the car.
