Chic in the Heat

“Sex appeal is fifty percent what you’ve got and fifty percent what people think you’ve got.” – Sophia Loren

I love this photo of and quote by Sophia Loren. It’s been so insufferably hot and humid in New York lately that I’m having trouble feeling chic. I wish I could wear a scarf on my head with as much confidence as Sophia but I’d probably end up looking like a milk maid. I’ll guess I’ll have to find another way to look chic in the heat! Keep cool and carry on!

I’m hear ya sister! This heat is killing me and my style lately, it’s all i can do to keep my hair from looking like a total frizz ball and all my makeup from not sweating off simultaneously as I put it on!Eww, I know.

Very “Italian” quote. The art of persuasive appearance and looks works only if you know how to project yourself on the catwalk of the world. Gumption and confidence.

Most beautiful picture I have ever seen of her – well said! PS So strange reading abut all this “heat”, when we’re freezing our apricots off here in Sydney, Australia! xLouise

As we say at Glamour Beauty is 1% lipgloss and 99% confidence.

Oh exactly, if only I had the features to carry off a headscarf! Whenever I’m in Italy I am in awe of the women there, I always look such a sweaty mess.

It’s hard to be chic in this heat!102 in Richmond yesterday.

Nobody could equal Sophia: her amazing presence seemed to suck the air out of any space. I do think I need a green and fuchsia scarf like the one she’s wearing–that photo must date to the mid to late sixties. And thank you for keeping the heat in New York; it has been wonderfully cool in LA–even a bit of a drizzle yesterday morning–divine. Hope things cool down for you soon. Mary

If my eye make up looked like Sophia’s, I think it would be running down my cheek – this heat is insufferable and totally wrecking what I’ve got along with what others think I’ve got. Insert (wipe brow, sip water, fan face)

There are no heat issues out west! We’re hoping for heat issues soon. What a splendid quote — an air of confidence does go a long way.

PS. NYC can not be nearly as hot and humid as South Florida… But at least there is an ocean breeze here.
    Stay cool!….and chic 😉

Sophia, always so exotically beautiful. I like to fold a scarf into a narrow band and tie it in the back, to one side. That look is quite cute!

Hey, there’s nothing wrong with the milk maid look. I happen to think it’s quite chic, especially when there’s a contrast of backgrounds, ie New York. Give it a try and see what happens, you might even get picked up by the sartorialist. You never know dear.

Amen to that! Good grief, Sophia Loren is so unbelievably stunning – she’s got sex appeal to last her til the end of time.
