Chic at Work

Sometimes I miss working in an office.  I used to think up more creative outfits because I didn’t want to bore my co-workers by wearing the same thing each week.  Since the same people don’t see me everyday now, I feel like my outfits have gotten a little boring.  One of my New Year’s resolutions is to restyle my wardrobe and take more risks.  That’s why I like Vogue‘s new online feature, Five Days, Five Looks.  Who better to learn from than those who work at the chicest magazine.  Senior Accessories Editor, Filipa Fino, is up this week and I love her classic style with pops of colorful accessories.  She’s definitely my new style idol. I will definitely be emulating her look after we dig out from the blizzard.  Until then, I hope no one sees what I’m wearing!  Happy New Year!

    Oh, so chic!

I feel the same way! Working from home is great for some many reasons but the bad part we can stay in our PJs all day! Not very sexy! 🙂
    Wonderful and elegant choices, Heather!

Today I posted about JENNIFER LOPEZ’S NEW HOUSE. You need to take a look.

Hi Heather, I was drooling over her wardrobe yesterday. I’ve got an NYC trip coming up, but I’ll be running around with a camera crew, so those fur shoes would probably not be so practical for me. Oh, but those Charlotte Olympia leopard numbers are just killing me. And I love how she paired them with an unexpected pattern. Love, love!
    Stay warm!

She looks amazing, tailored but so chic at the same time. Gorgeous outfits, I especially love the striped shirt tucked into the orange pants with the red clutch. Absolutely beautiful. All of these outfits are inspiring. Thanks for posting these.

Beautiful outfits but unfortunately they would be wasted on me. I live in the country and have my studio in a carriage barn and never actually see my clients. Although I do get dressed everyday rather then live in my pj’s…shame too!

The problem with working from home is that one can easily fall into bad habits and become lax about one’s appearance.
That Vogue editor looks great…but I would expect that from any editor of a major fashion magazine.

I love every one of her looks, especially the cut of her pants.

The red 70s style trousers are so chic and so cool! A great office style!

My work from home doesn’t dictate formal attire either, but I love the inspirational photos. I’m aiming to have at least one upscale element in my wardrobe (scarf, pretty coat, gorgeous shoes) everyday because I feel more put together (and weirdly work more diligently) than when I’m shlumpy.
    LOVING her netural palette.

I totally agree…working from home kills style..I only dress up when I need to meet clients. We all need to reconsider the home office attire! And yes, isn’t it strange how we are more productive when dressed well?! I used to always say that if I put on shoes I would be able to work more efficiently …. that has gone by the wayside in the past few years! Will have to bring that rule back.

I discovered this yesterday morning!! What a smart idea for Vogue and what a great practical way for me to work on my look. I decided a year ago, that although I work from home, when I leave the house, that I am wearing something up to date and more pulled together. I keep a spot in my notebook that I keep beside the computer for ways to make the ideas I see work for me and my lifestyle. I saw several ways to “shop my closet” to create a more stylist look, when I am not living in my UGGS!!!

I agree, Heather. I am digging all of these outfits!! I especially love the trousers.

Not only does she have amazing personal style and taste, but her desks is really chic, too. Sigh, I do need to get motivated. Mary

I think she could be a new office chic guru! Great looks!
Wishing you much sunshine your way……I have a few friends still stranded there….I hope that you dig out soon!

Love the simplicity of colours. Very sophisticated. Grey with a bit of red is beautiful.

Oh my goodness! This is totally what I needed to see to get my act together! I don’t work from home – although some days I do… but mostly I work in the office and I could wear each of those looks to work. I have so been bemoaning my sad fashion rut lately.

I wish I could afford those Charlotte Olympia booties – I have a million pairs (okay not a million, but a lot) of leopard shoes, but not in the bootie style… which I really want!

Zara has a pair, but they only go up to size 10 and I need an 11. Boo.

I adore the gray/camel/fur outfit… that is SO me. And I’m so happy to see how she paired the vest with her coat/pants, etc..

I love all of the outfits though… so simple yet so chic.
