Chic and Cozy Cottage

It’s a long holiday weekend and that means many people will be getting away.  Designer Stephen Shubel‘s chic fisherman’s cottage in Sausalito looks like a chic yet cozy place spend some time off.  He describes it as being “like Marie Antoinette in a t-shirt…the past recreated for today.”  He mixes French furniture with nautical touches that refer back to the cottage’s seaside location.  Definitely makes me wish I was getting away again this weekend!

    Always loved that fishing shack!
Although, a bit too pretty to be shabby……..looks like a good place to retreat.

My very talented friend Jody Thompson-Kennedy produced this for House Beautiful in 1998- still feels fresh and new. Living near Sausalito, I always wanted to see the interior of the cottage firsthand!

What’s not to love about this cottage..the painted floor boards, striped upholstery and cushions and just a dash of black and gold in every room. Perfection…Lovely post, Heather!!

Oh Heather! That cottage is beyond divine!
Not many places could I move in with my toothbrush and not change a thing!
    This is a “keeper”!

    Thank you!

Gorgeous! I wouldn’t have thought to pair ornate french designs with casual beach cottage but it so works. I love it!

I love this happy house. I wonder if the dog was color coded to match the shots of gold, he even has a bit of black. Mary
