DIFFA Dining by Design 2011

Every year DIFFA holds it New York Dining by Design event adjacent to the Architectural Digest Home Show.  I wasn’t able to attend last year and I forgot how much I enjoyed these fabulous over the top tables.   The Cocktails by Design event last Thursday was pretty crowded so it was hard to photograph them but here’s a peek inside the event.  I especially loved the garden table with Kate and William plates designed by David Beahm above and below.  It’s especially perfect for the first day of Spring!  If you miss the last day of viewing, there are still a limited number of seats available for the Gala Dinner honoring Margaret Russell on Monday, March 21st.  Enjoy!

Interesting. Some tables work for the home environment; some are celebratory; and some are just whimsical. I prefer those that could really be used, like the Todd Moore table–great use of height without obscuring your friends across the table.

But what do you do with some of the embellishments once the service starts? Like the flowers in a cup on the NYTimes table?

The RL table is beautifully RL, but I’ve never liked the coffee cup pre-set–feels like a country club dinner, not dinner at home.

And the unconventional flatware placement in the 2Michaels table surprised me.

This is so inspiring! I wish I could be there to see the tables in person, but second best is living vicariously through these pictures! Thanks for sharing…

Do you know who produced the chairs in Diane von Furstenberg’s room?
