“I adore wearing gems, but not because they are mine.  You can’t possess radiance, you can only admire it.” – Elizabeth Taylor
I was very saddened to hear of the passing of Dame Elizabeth Taylor today. The world will definitely miss her radiance.

Indeed, what a dame! I had hoped that Oprah would have a chance to interview Miss Taylor before the end of her show, but this will not come to pass.

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is still so mesmerizing. And incredible lady.

She was the most beautiful of all and do you know what I loved about her? She was a very simple woman, she treated everyone the same way. That’s being REAL and so rare to find in this society.

    She will be missed.

The best of all time. She was such a beautiful woman and a brilliant actress.
My mother looked so much like her. I grew up hearing that compliment towards her.
    Such a sad day.

They don’t make them like that anymore. Liz lives forever in our movie dreams.

12 or so years ago; my husband Adam and I sat , quite literally……right next to her……(6 inches) at Trader Vics…she had her little dog (Sugah!) and was dining with Rod Steiger………another enormous movie star! we spoke briefly…about the dog….and nice “hellos”!

She was gracious and lovely…..and made sure that no one gave the dog any treats!!

    She was a true beauty.

and what I will always remember her for is her early support for the fundraising for AIDS. she brought it out of the shadows……….into the light…..and raised the money necessary.

I believe she was the first……to address that problem………make it public…..and raise money for it.

Many, many people are alive today……because of Elizabeth Taylor…….and I treasure them……and I am ever so grateful for her!

A Great Beauty who gave so much!!

May she rest in peace with her beloved dogs all around her!!

    Penelope

Beautiful post. I have a bit of a back story here as my Mom’s cousin was her stand in for many years and really looks very much like her only she didn’t smoke or drink like Liz did and has kept her health and beauty. She thought Richard Burton was so sweet and Liz…well let’s just say she was a movie star and acted as such.
