Friday marks three weeks since my father had his triple bypass operation.  He won’t be running a marathon any time soon but we are confident that he will be feeling better than ever within a few months.  I want to thank all of you who sent messages and emails regarding his health.  We appreciate all of your suggestions, stories, and prayers.  It was especially helpful to hear about all of your friends and relatives who are leading full lives since their own surgery.  One was on a cruise and a few others lived into their 90’s so that was very encouraging.

Here’s to a happy and healthy New Year for everyone!

Merci!

Best wishes to you and your family. As an RN, I cared for post-op CABG patients in the CVICU. I currently work in Quality Outcomes at a Heart & Vascular Institute on the East Coast. I’d be happy to speak or exchange email off line if you need anything.

When your Dad is cleared for Cardiac Rehab, it is a wonderful program and helps patients in physical and emotional health.

    Don’t forget the sternal precautions!

    Warmest Regards,
    Beth Q

My brother had a triple bypass about 7 weeks ago – he’s 57 (58 next month). It’s actually a blessing – he could have had a heart attack. Our father had the same operation (but quadruple) many years ago (about 25), also BEFORE he had a heart attack. Best wishes to your father – he will be getting his strength back and much less pain very soon. Good luck!
