Meet Manolo

Morning meetings mess me up.  It’s usually the time I return emails and work on blog posts which is why I don’t schedule them.  Since I’m behind on everything from one earlier today, I am posting a repeat post but it’s from October 2010 and relevant for what’s going on in New York this week. Not only can you see shoe designer Manolo Blahnik at his beautiful Georgian house in Bath, England by Ivan Terestchecnko here but you can meet him in person tomorrow at Bergdorf Goodman.  (For those of you who receive the email subscription, that means today.)  I’ve been looking for a pair of pointy toe pumps which are all the rage so I think I might have to stop by too.  See you there!

Just another reason I wish I lived in the Big Apple. He is a truly a master. I so get the morning meeting thing, the morning is exactly the time I like to sit down and write my posts, comment on other blogs, etc.while enjoying a freezing cold Diet Coke. Hope you have a chance to stop by BG today! I am certain you will not walk out empty handed with all that temptation. Do share!

What a glorious space. And I’m feeling immensely better: my disorder is minor compared to MB’s creative den. Great post–I missed it the first time.

I am green with envy. The first pair of Manolos I bought was when I was pregnant with my first child, 11 years ago. They are still au courant, and will be in another 11 years, when she will be parading around in them. I feel that you cannot say the same for his competitors. Plus, he was friends with Audrey Hepburn…would you love to hear some of those stories?

The thing that I love SO much about this post, and Manolo’s apt. is that it looks LIVED IN. I can’t imagine an American born designer seeing the value in such patina. But Manolo does! That’s why he is the Master.
