Kips Bay Decorator Show House Coverage Begins

I am finally allowed to start posting my pics from the 2013 Kips Bay Decorator Show House today and I can’t wait to share these chic spaces.  The designers work so hard on them and don’t always receive much recognition so it’s always been important to me to highlight their efforts.
When I toured the house a week ago, it was still receiving a few finishing touches at the entry so I decided to start at the top and work my way down.  Barbara Ostrom Associates designed this beautiful aerie retreat that looks like the perfect space to curl up and read a book or do some writing at the desk. The style is best described as traditional with a twist and is the perfect way to kick off my coverage.

Such class, gorgeous. I’m happy to see at least one of the rooms this year is more neutral and classic. I totally understand why designers kind of let loose in design houses, but I’m happy to see something that’s more my taste. 🙂

I was there on Thursday. This area is one of my favorite spaces and I W.A.N.T that dragon and the statue in the window. Beautiful spaces by each designer.

I love the drapes but the entire design is very nice.

I am glad to see the return of “big” window hardware. Thanks for the great photos!

The Chinese elements are of great quality. Those foo dogs! Is that a very large nodder in the window? Great space. Perhaps a bit too many show stoppers in one room, but it works. Thanks for keeping me up-to-date on New York design.

Why is it that they don’t make TVs with different colored frames around the picture. I wouldn’t have to hide mine. Beautiful images.

I think this one was one of my favorites, it wasn’t my favorite Kips bay but this room was fantastic!
