Lovely on the Left Bank

If you haven’t picked up the September 2013 issue of Elle Decor, you are missing out.  I’ve been so tired lately of magazines that keep featuring the same homes and people and this issue delivers nothing but newness. The Left Bank Paris apartment designed by François-Joseph Graf for a mystery client is my favorite and makes me wish I hadn’t skipped the flea market today. It’s a collector’s paradise filled with antiques and more books than I’ve ever seen in a private residence. It might also make me rethink my personal use of color.  Definitely pick up the issue.

Beautiful mixes of antiques from different countries and eras! The designer has put the pieces together so seamlessly. I’ve lived in numerous countries and amassed a collection of European and Asian antique silver jewellery (too big and heavy for anyone to actually wear so they’ve been framed), Ming Dynasty porcelain, Middle-Eastern copper and glass items and French vintage poster-art. They are all beautiful pieces in their own right, but I can’t seem to mix and match them flawlessly. I think my wife will be pleasantly surprised to see that I’ve purchased a home-décor magazine!

Thanks so much for posting these pictures. I share your feeling that it seems like most home magazines all post houses that look the same, so I actually ended up cancelling my subscriptions to a few magazines. Elle Decor does do a good job of presenting a variety of eclectic designs with a focus on artistry.
Thanks for all that you do!
