Chic in Venice: Gritti Palace Hotel

As I sit at my desk in front of my window and watch it snow once again, I am thinking about escaping. I’m embarrassed to admit that I’ve never visited Venice.  I hope to remedy this situation this summer if not before and hopefully with a stay at the newly renovated Gritti Palace Hotel. After years of traveling, I have realized that I appreciate staying at hotels that reflect the culture of the city in which they reside. While I couldn’t live in a gilded rococo decor in New York, it’s obviously perfectly suited to the history of Venice. If this 15th-century palazzo was good enough for Ernest Hemingway than I think it’s good enough for me too.

Gorgeous photos! I have been to Venice and if you are planning a trip to soak in the locale… plan it around Carnival… it is SO WORTH IT!
Thank you for the mini escape on this dreary Monday! Have a great day.

Wow, how beautiful and enchanting it would be to stay there! I could just imagine sitting down and staring all around me feeling like I’m in magical palace. Gorgeous!

Breath-taking. So inspirational. One day I will stay here too. I remember my first trip to Venice as a 12 year old. They served cake for breakfast and I thought ah – I have found my spiritual home 🙂

I think it just might do. I love Venice–when you arrive, plan to stay for a long time…..the people and the city are embracing.

    It will be unforgettable stay.
    Stunning palazzo.
You’ll fall in love from the first sight. Just try to avoid July/August as crowds and heat wave are exhausting.
Otherwise it’s a dream come true.
I had a few Venice posts from last summer on my blog and would be happy to see you as a guest http://jewelyettofind.blogspot.ca/

Your plans for your first trip to Venice are very exciting. I do echo the suggestion of one reader above: avoid making your trip in the summer months, when the heat, humidity and tourist crush are miserable. My visits have been in April-May or October, and they have been wonderful!

What a coincidence! Someone just pointed me to this post because I was staying there when you posted this! 🙂 I stayed in a few hotels while in Venice and my view at the Gritti was the best.
