Awards Season starts in full force tonight with the Golden Globes. I’ve seen a few of the films and performances nominated which makes me more excited to see who wins. I saw Brooklyn yesterday with Saoirse Ronan and absolutely loved the sweet coming of age immigrant story set in Brooklyn and Ireland.

Joy is a bit of a fantasy bio-pic by director David O. Russell who assembled his usual cast of characters including Jennifer Lawrence as Joy Mangano, the creator if the Wonder Mop. I saw it on Christmas Day and left inspired and motivated.

I saw Carol in early December and unfortunately did not love it. I realized that even though it’s a compelling story, I just didn’t connect with the characters. The costumes are lovely though and Cate Blanchett looks gorgeous through out.

The Revenant staring Leonardo DiCaprio is getting rave reviews but I’m not sure I have the stomach for all the uncomfortable gore. I would like to see The Danish Girl and The Big Short but maybe not Room.

Are there any films you really loved or want to see now?
