I am very excited to see A Star is Born with Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga this weekend. I saw the trailer a few months ago and could tell it was going to be good and the reviews are confirming my suspicions. Bradley Cooper directed this remake of the old film and also sings as an established artist along side the up and coming singer played by Lady Gaga which should make it a serious contender during awards season.

I couldn’t get into Versailles when I watched the series from week to week. I tried it again when Ovation was airing season one and two back to back in preparation of season three this weekend. I think watching them in a row made it easier to keep track of all the characters and their machinations. The story of King Louis XIV and his court at Versailles is sumptuous and gorgeous because it’s actually filmed at Versailles and other chateaux like Veax-le-Vicomte. Now I’m hooked and looking forward to the premier of season three on Saturday, October 6th.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art costume exhibition Heavenly Bodies ends on October 8, 2018 so you might want to check it out this weekend. It will also be perfect weather to head to The Cloisters where the exhibition continues. I went with Tommy Smythe in early September and can attest that it’s worth the trek up to Fort Tyron Park. I suggest taking an Uber but the Madison Avenue bus also drops you off outside.

If you happen to be in Paris from now until 14 January 2019, I highly you suggest you check out the amazing Jean-Michel Basquiat exhibition at the Foundation Louis Vuitton. I saw a lot of images on Instagram from the fashion flock who visited during Paris Fashion Week and it really looked like an incredible show.

Prolific writer Peter Mayle passed away this January and I just picked up his posthumously released book My Twenty-Five Years in Provence: Reflections on Then and Now. If you love France, you will also want to add this one to your reading list.

I don’t drink coffee but I might have to start so I can order something at Felix Roasting Co. It’s a new chic coffee shop designed by interior designer Ken Fulk on Park Avenue South. I have a feeling it’s going to be the new darling of Instagram too.

Now that summer is over, it’s time to start repairing your skin from all that sun damage. I had an IPL treatment with Dr. Virginia Wade yesterday and it might be my new favorite laser. I’ve had them before at Skin Laundry but they can’t turn up the laser and really treat dark spots, broken capillaries, and hyperpigmentation like a doctor can. I’m not going to lie, it hurts like heck during the procedure but it’s over quickly and the pain doesn’t last. Dark spots will turn brown and crust over before flaking off so if you have a lot you might have more down time. I just have some around the perimeter of my face which are barely noticeable. You do need to be diligent about wearing sunscreen after or you’ll end up with more sunspots.

Hope you get out and enjoy this October!

Bon Week-end!

XOXO,

HC
