This week was not as busy as last week due to snow and the ending of fashion week but I still managed to miss a few things. I’m hoping to catch up on some of them over the long holiday weekend. If put a few new stores and events happening around New York, Los Angeles, and London if you are looking for some fun activities.

Everyone’s favorite florist, Putnam and Putnam, have opened a floral flagship in the Moxy Hotel at 105 West 28th Street, in Flower District, above. You can find flowers as well as, gifts, candles, treats, and their book Flower Color Guide. Flowers should be reasonably priced again now that Valentine’s Day is over so go treat yourself to a bouquet.

Tory Burch just launched new tabletop products for home including a pink collection of Dodie Thayer lettuceware, green pressed glasses, raffia placemats/chargers, and other pieces. My favorites are the Oiseau Salad Plates in green but they also come in blue but everything is perfect for a special spring breakfast or dinner party.

Reservations have just opened for the historic 1962 Eero Saarinen-designed TWA terminal located TWA Hotel at JFK airport in New York beginning in May 2019. I can’t wait to get home from JFK the minute I land so not sure I want to book one of the soundproofed rooms but dinner at the Paris Café helmed by world renowned chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten before a flight might be an option when it opens this spring.

You may Tommy Ton from his street style photographs during fashion week but now he’s become the artistic director for Deveaux.  His debut collection shown during a fashion week performance of multi-generational and cultural models has won rave reviews from the editors everywhere.  The elegant separates remind me of a cross between Toteme and The Row. You can read more about it and preorder the pieces on Moda Operandi.
The fashion flock have already decamped to London for the second week of fashion month. If you are making a jump across the pond, make sure you check out Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams at the Victoria and Albert Museum. “Spanning 1947 to the present day, this exhibition traces the history and impact of one of the 20th century’s most influential couturiers, exploring the enduring influence of the fashion house, and Dior’s relationship with Britain.” It runs though 14 July 2019 so you have time to book your trip. Admission is free.

The Frieze Art Fair has just launched their first Frieze Los Angeles fair which runs through 17 February 2019. The most fun part that I’ve seen posted already on Instagram is that it’s being held at Paramount Pictures Studios which has neighborhoods in New York and other places for filming. I wished I had booked a trip until I saw the torrential rains in LA. If you’re already out there though, you should definitely check it out.,

Have you seen Bohemian Rhapsody yet? I watched it on the plane home from Miami recently and was blown away. Rami Malek doesn’t just play Queen front man Freddie Mercury, he channels him. I have to say that it’s so much better than A Star is Born and now that it’s available on demand, you can rent it this weekend. After you watch, check out the real video of Queen playing at Live Aid and see how true the movie stays to the actual event. It’s amazing.

You may be heading home Monday night after the long weekend but plan to be back by 10:00pm EST to watch the third episode of Elvis Goes There in which he interviews iconic filmmaker Sofia Coppola in Paris. Looks like they also visit Versailles together which is where she filmed Marie Antoinette. It’s on the Epix network which I don’t get but you can also watch it on the Epix app. It’s usually $5.99 a month but they also offer a 7 day free trial. I can’t wait for Monday.

I also noticed this week that my favorite chic and minimal brand Cuyana just launched a new version of my favorite blouse. The Silk Wrap Blouse no longer has little pleats along the front bottom so it lies flat now. I love the ivory version with jeans but it’s also available in black and a fun abstract camo print for spring.

I’m stuck in New York in the winter weather but I’m dreaming of summer with this Umbrellas painting.

Bon week-end!

XOXO,

HC
