Moda Operandi Home Preview

Many of us have been lamenting the passing of member of the elegant old guard recently such as Lee Radziwill, Marella Agnelli, and Jane Wrightsman. Sometimes it feels like there is no one to take up their mantle but luckily Lauren Santo Domingo is leading the charge of the next generation. Her taste is impeccable but she’s very down to earth and fun which can be seen in all the new table top pieces and embroidered linens that she showed me yesterday at a home preview at Moda Operandi. A few come from Italian companies that Marella Agnelli actually used in her own homes and others were found with the help of her chic mother-in-law and along her own travels.

Moda Operandi was founded to give women the ability to pre-order from designer runway collections through online trunkshows since many of the pieces shown on runways might never make it into stores. It’s since expanded to jewelry, menswear, and home decor, and items available to immediately purchase.

My favorite pieces from the home preview trunkshow included the embroidered table linens, nightgowns, and dresses from Loretta Caponi, and the exclusive capsule collection from Cabana. Just make sure you place your orders early before the factories close for August, otherwise you won’t get items until October. I wonder Marella had to wait that long.

Loretta Caponi tablecloth. I don’t see this one online so you want to call the Moda Operandi Madison location for more information for anything you can’t find online.

The flatware is from Alain Saint-Joanis.

Lauren’s ring isn’t for sale but she said she would sell it. Spoken like a true retailer.

Spotted plates are from Este Ceramiche.

Glassware is from Bisanzio.

Luxurious shawls from Kashmir Loom.

A mix of lingerie and dresses available now and to preorder.

The hostess with the mostess with glasses and a pitcher from Lobmeyr.

Lauren showing me the detail on one of the glasses from Lobmeyr.

Lauren and I share a preference for stemless glasses like these from Davide Fuin. They are less likely to get knocked over if someone gets animated or inebriated at dinner.

Plates from Este Ceramiche are mixed with linens from Los Encajeros.

Towels from Loretta Caponi.

Lauren said that some of the table linens would also work as a coverlet on a bed.

Indestructible glass tumblers from Striulli. You may have to call Moda Madison to order the darker colors since I can’t find them online.

These Moda Domus Ceramic Potato Bowls are a cheeky way to serve potatoes with caviar and make a fun hostess gift.

This table set with pieces from Cabana was my favorite.

I absolutely loved this handmade bird plate from The New Craftsmen that will be launching online later this week. You can also contact Moda Madison for more details.

The flowers were pretty too!

Beautiful glassware from Cabana. I especially love the pale pink ones.
