The Renovated Carolina Herrera Store on Madison Avenue

The Carolina Herrera boutique on Madison Avenue just received the chicest renovation and redecoration. The store opened in the year 2000 so it was overdue for a refresh. The neutral interiors are now full of light from the new windows and colorful furniture that I suspect is attempt to lure in younger shoppers and not just the uptown ladies who lunch. Creative director Wes Gordon was responsible for the new direction and tapped architect Andre Mellone of Studio Mellone to lead the project. Interior designer Chiara de Rege poured her blood, sweat, and tears into the interiors while sourcing and creating furniture for the store. I thought it was interesting to read that the hexagonal stone floor was inspired by the floor in the Rome home of artist Cy Twombly and black and white polka dots often used by Mrs. Herrera. Gordon said of the new store, “This was really an opportunity for me to obsess and play with every detail down to door hinges and upholstery trims. I wanted it to be dreamy and spectacular, unlike anything else on the street.” I walked through on Saturday and loved the cheerful space but I didn’t see the new Carolina Herrera x Cabana table top collection that just launched. I guess this means I’m just going to have to go back.
