Everyone is upset that Americans can’t travel outside the country now but luckily, there are a lot of wonderful places to go within driving distance of New York City. The Mayflower Inn and Spa in Washington, Connecticut has always had wonderful reputation but it became an even more luxurious retreat when Auberge Resorts took over management in 2019. As you can see from the map below, there is plenty of room to social distance while hiking, playing tennis, enjoying spa treatments, and fine dining. There is also plenty of things to see and do in the Litchfield County including shopping at Plain Goods and Privet House in New Preston. I also just found out that writer Amy Sherman-Palladino was so inspired by the Mayflower Inn and Spa that she used it as inspiration for the Dragonfly Inn on Gilmore Girls.
