It was over 70 degrees yesterday but we might get snow flurries next week so dressing in March and even April can be a challenge. This year, I’m inspired by Sofia Coppola who has the perfect wardrobe for unpredictable weather.

Her closet staples include navy sweaters, black pants, blue shirts, navy coats, striped tops, ballet flats, white sneakers, a classic trench, crossbody bags, and roomy purses, some of which she designed for Louis Vuitton.

It’s funny how much of Sofia’s own style seemed to inform the wardrobe of Rashida Jones’s character in her latest film On the Rocks. In one photo taken on the street during filming, they look like they are wearing the same green cargo pants.

The first outfit I’m inspired by is her mix of navy tops and sweaters paired with black pants. It can be dressed up or down and is a great outfit to transition back into the office again.

Sofia is wearing a navy hooded coat in one photo and spring definitely calls for a rain jacket. I own this Lightweight Jacket in navy and olive green and it’s the perfect thing to grab when the weather is grey or wet.

I just pulled these high-rise Cameron pants in four-season stretch out of my closet to wear this spring. I love that I can wear them with sneakers, flats, and heels. There is nothing that says spring more than a classic trench coat. Sofia wore this one in Los Angeles.

I assume that Sofia’s trench is probably Burberry but I love this Nili Lotan cotton blend trench coat and this Frame cotton-twill trench coat. The Icon Trench is a great reasonably priced version, as is this Tipped Twill Trench Coat.

Sofia is wearing a ribbed sweater and this crewneck sweater in cotton-cashmere looks very similar.

There is probably no fashion item I associate with Sofia Coppola than the blue buttondown shirt.

Sofia is a fan of Charvet shirts but they can be very expensive. I think this blue point-collar cotton-poplin shirt looks like a shirt she would definitely wear. This classic-fit oxford cotton shirt is a more casual option. You could also wear a men’s blue dress shirt and roll up the sleeves.

Even though Sofia prefers a straight leg style of jeans, I also like these high-rise skinny jeans in the color she prefers.

I love the Mary Janes that Sofia wears in one of her outfits and these Velvet Mary Janes are a great price and come in eight different colors.

I love adding a burgundy bag to blue outfit like Sofia did with this half moon smooth-leather cross-body bag.

Sofia doesn’t wear a lot of accessories but she is often seen with sunglasses. These Ray Ban Wayfarer square-frame tortoiseshell acetate sunglasses are a great update for spring.

Navy is a popular color choice for Sofia and she often pairs navy tops, sweaters, and coats with jeans.

Striped tees, tops, and sweaters are another favorite of Sofia Coppola. She’s been seen in so many versions and even wears them to events.

There’s nothing chicer than a simple striped sweater like this striped cashmere crewneck boyfriend sweater. But you also can’t go wrong with a striped boatneck tee shirt.

A great way to lighten up for spring is to swap in white jeans. I love the highest-rise toothpick jeans and the curvy toothpick jeans.

I took inspiration for these yellow suede ballet flats from the yellow tote bag that Sofia carries while wearing stripes.

A fun tote bag for spring and summer would be this large blue leather and jute-trimmed suede tote.

While I haven’t seen Sofia Coppola wear an Apple Watch, I like to think she might consider the Hermès Apple Watch with a blue band.
