Central Park is finally at peak leaf peeping season and could not look more beautiful, as you can see from my photo above, and events are back in full swing. Here’s what’s new and noteworthy in the city and beyond.

Salon Art + Design which features over 50 of the world’s most influential galleries in art, architecture, and design is going on now at the Park Avenue Armory and runs through Monday, November 15, 2021.

Celebrate a new era of dining at Dowling’s at The Carlyle where newly appointed Executive Chef Sylvain Delpique, formerly of 21 Club (RIP), has created a menu that features his interpretations of timeless New York favorites and throwback dishes from another era. I haven’t been yet but I can’t wait to dine in what looks like a very chic and Instagramable setting.

The Wollman Skating Rink reopens on Sunday, November 14, 2021 under new management with expanded amenities which include entirely new clubhouse, gift shop, and restored trellis, public Wi-Fi, a new kitchen, and more. There will also be discounted tickets for New York families. Guests must show their ID NYC or New York Public Library card to receive the discounted tickets. There is a limited number of tickets available each month, so they are given out on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Ann Mashburn will be popping up in New York with a women’s only space on November 19, 2021 at 846 Madison Avenue. Not sure how long it will be open but it will be stocked with lots of wardrobe staples, greatest hits like Buckle Shoes, new seasonal items, Made-to-Order shirts and dresses, and gifts for everyone on your list.

Did you know there is a new Julia Childs documentary out now? “JULIA brings to life the legendary cookbook author and television superstar who changed the way Americans think about food, television, and even about women. Using never-before-seen archival footage, personal photos, first-person narratives, and cutting-edge, mouth-watering food cinematography, the film traces Julia Child’s 12 year struggle to create and publish the revolutionary Mastering the Art of French Cooking (1961) which has sold more than 2.5 million copies to date, and her rapid ascent to become the country’s most unlikely television star. It’s the empowering story of a woman who found her purpose – and her fame – at 50, and took America along on the whole delicious journey.”

Everyone online was obsessed with the House of Gucci when photos surfaced of Lady Gaga and Adam Driver dressed in chic vintage outfits during the filming of House of Gucci in Italy but I think we were all a little worried about whether the movie would actually be good. Well, I’m even more obsessed after seeing the trailer of the film based on real life events which also stars, Jared Leto, Jeremy Irons, and Al Pacino. It will be released at Thanksgiving but I noticed that there is a sneak preview showing at some theaters on Thursday, November 18, 2021, if you can’t wait.

If you too are obsessed by French chateaux, then I highly recommend the new book Vaux-le-Vicomte: A Private Invitation. This comprehensive monograph is an exclusive look inside the château that inspired the design of Versailles and today continues to enchant visitors today. “This volume traces the château’s history from the seventeenth century through the Belle Époque, World War I, and its public opening in 1968. Exclusive photography and archival documents offer unprecedented access to the château, furnishings, and gardens, and illuminate the extraordinary secrets of court life and centuries of celebrations that include the enchanting candlelit tours held today.”

The Row has created three new fragrance oils that are just as expensive as their fashions and will probably be just as popular. They scents named R Oil, O Oil, and W Oil, will only be available in stores so I put my name on the list to be alerted when they arrive. I have a weakness for Sandalwood scents and R Oil offers Sandalwood’s embrace with fresh Tobacco leaves, burnt Esfand seeds, and Rose. Sounds right up my alley.

I had a gift card to Bergdorf Goodman so I decided to order a bunch of Hermès Nail Care products. Most everything turned out to be backordered but the Les Mains Hermès Complete Hand Care arrived and I love the unisex sandalwood based scent. It would make a great stocking stuffer for anyone or a chic present for your mother-in-law.

Bon week-end!

XOXO,
