JMW Turner: Painter of Light
by habituallychic
07 . 01 . 08I am beyond excited that today is the beginning of the JMW Turner exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York which runs through September 21, 2008. Joseph Mallord William Turner was born in London in 1775 and began painting at the age of 14, studied at the Royal Academy Schools later became a member of The Royal Academy of Art. He is classified as a Romantic painter but also a precursor to the Impressionist movement, as well as “a visionary who bridged the gap between “traditional” art and Modernism.”

Fabulous! I love artists…I know that is such a God given talent…I might have an eye for decorating and color…but I can’t draw and/or paint much more than a stick figure.
Thanks for sharing.
