Bachelors on the Brain

07 . 17 . 08

I’ve been hearing that Steven Gambrel had posted new photos on his website so I finally decided to check them out today. I was instantly attracted to this Tribeca Loft. The color combinations are to die for as is the art collection and beautiful custom carpets. On the website, I learned that it was featured […]

Artist in Residence

07 . 16 . 08

The only good thing about riding the subway to work in the morning is that it gives me 15 minutes of quiet time to read a magazine. This morning I was reading the July/August 2008 issue of New York Spaces, which surprisingly enough came from the Bachelor. Neither of us have any idea why he […]

I came across some old tear sheets recently of John Demsey’s bachelor pad from an old issue of Elle Decor. I have no idea what month or year though. House and Garden published it again in in November 2007 after Mr. Demsey had married. I love looking for the changes that were made so I’ll […]

So, we had our first installation of furniture last week at the Bachelor Pad and the changes have been amazing if I do say so myself. Just in case you forgot what this wall looked like before, I’ve included the original incarnation below. Of course, it’s still not finished. There is a lot left to […]

I Heart Phillip Lim!

07 . 13 . 08

How do I love Phillip Lim? Let me count the ways…beautiful dresses, gorgeous knits, fabulous necklaces…you get the idea. I’ve been wearing Phillip Lim for a few years now and am always surprised that even though they may at first appear simple, his clothes are full of interesting details and are wonderfully finished inside and […]

Bon Weekend!

07 . 11 . 08

It’s been a very long hard week and I wish I was sitting next to this pool right now. Maybe if I put it on my inspiration board, it will become a reality. Until then, I’m signing off for a few days. Bon Weekend!

Living with Design

07 . 10 . 08

I was thinking this past Sunday that I should really try to finish reading all of the great design that I own, especially the vintage ones. So I got a few of them out including the usual suspects, Dorothy Rodgers, Ruhlmann, Mark Hampton and Billy Baldwin, which is what prompted me to post the photo […]

Bachelor Pad Update

07 . 09 . 08

Maison 21 just emailed and asked what was new with the Bachelor Pad since I hadn’t posted about it lately so I thought I should put together a little update. No, that’s not it above. That’s the fabulous living room that Billy Baldwin decorated for Mr. and Mrs. Lee Eastman. It was your typical white […]

I went to the Hermes website last night just to check their store hours and ended up finding all sorts of surprises including the beautiful portraits of horses by South African born, British raised photographer Koto Bolofo. They are a testament to his skill and patience as a photographer. Enjoy.

I knew Madonna was chic but in her new video for Give it 2 Me directed by fashion photographer Tom Munroe, she shakes her groove thing in what appears to be David Hicks wallpaper. Seeing as it was shot in London, it’s entirely possible and looks fabulous regardless of who made it. Funny how I […]

Shiny Happy Feet!

07 . 06 . 08

I told you that I never met a pair of gold shoes I didn’t like so of course I couldn’t resist this pair from the Calypso Outlet on Broome Street. They make me feel like Sienna Miller, albeit a slightly less Bohemian version. They also come in silver. You’ve been warned!

Oh Yeah!

07 . 06 . 08

I think the sign speaks for itself but in case you need more information, it’s opening on Broadway this Fall. Right across from Pearl River Mart. I can’t wait. It just better be the same good stuff as they sell at Top Shop in London or I’m crackin’ skulls!

Happy 4th of July!

I am beyond excited that today is the beginning of the JMW Turner exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York which runs through September 21, 2008. Joseph Mallord William Turner was born in London in 1775 and began painting at the age of 14, studied at the Royal Academy Schools later became […]

Soane Ranger

07 . 01 . 08

We received some tear sheets in the office the other day from a English company called Soane that I immediately thought must be somehow associated with Sir John Soane but turns out is not, though it might be possible they were inspired by him. Soane was actually founded by Lulu Lytle and Christopher Hodsoll in […]

If I ever decide to move away from the hustle and bustle of New York, I’m moving to Kansas City! The city and it’s residents are so gracious and warm that of course I had a wonderful weekend from the very first moment. I wish I traveled to the midwest more often because Midwest Airlines […]

I’m off to Kansas City this weekend to attend the Kansas City Home Design magazine Design Excellence Awards Ceremony. The magazine asked me to be a judge and I can say that it was hard work! There were a lot of great candidates so I can’t wait to see who wins. You can also check […]

New York Minute

06 . 25 . 08

It’s a gloriously beautiful day in New York today…bright and sunny but not humid. A perfect day to take a walk at lunch which is what I did. I also stopped to pick up something to eat from my favorite place with the cashier who looks like Santa Claus and acts like it too. He […]

Whenever I think of a beach house, I automatically think of the traditional blue and white decor but then I came across the photos of the house on Long Island owned by designer Kevin Carrigan and architect Tim Furzer in the June 2007 issue of Elle Decor. The home has a great mix of mid […]

Habitually Chic is pooped! I spent all weekend shopping for the Bachelor Pad and all of tonight at the apartment checking projects off my list. Things are progressing slowly but surely. I am about to order most of the lamps so hopefully the other pieces of furniture will arrive soon so I have something to […]
