Substack

In case you missed it, Substack approached me about creating my own Habitually Chic Substack in September 2023 but I wasn’t sure I needed one at the time. I pay a lot of money for my own website each month and have a large following already. I think the demise of Twitter was the first inkling that social media is no longer dependable. Recent changes to Instagram in the last few weeks have many creators seeing their engagement decrease, perhaps as a tactic to get them to pay to be promoted. It’s all a bit exhausting to be honest but Substack feels like Blogspot 2.0. There’s a sense of community and lists of recommendations similar to blogrolls, chats reminiscent of old chatrooms, and Notes that are a replacement for twitter. Part of me feels like I don’t have time to post on one more platform but people are saying they are spending more time on Substack so it feels like a place I need to be now. I’ve been doing this for 17 years so I see Substack as a fun refresh for Habitually Chic. I will be posting on both sites for now but may decide to move fully to Substack in the future.
