The themes that keep appearing for Spring 2012 fashion are color and pattern.  They also seems to be appearing off the runway.  Due to unseasonably warm weather in Paris, the street style photographers Tommy Ton, Phil Oh and others are catching the fashion flock looking a lot like peacocks. Obviously, you can take their outfits […]

Uptown Girl

08 . 18 . 11

I have been shopping up a storm for fall since we all know that by the time you need fall clothes, there will be nothing left.  One store I haven’t hit yet is H&M.  After seeing these photos from their Uptown Girl feature in their magazine, I might have to sneak over there today. Especially […]

Only Oscar de la Renta would get me to 42nd Street on a rainy Monday night.  At first, I missed his old venue at the church on Park Avenue a few blocks from my apartment, but there was a great juxtaposition to the raw runway space and the gorgeous clothes.  It is the future home of the […]

Chic in Chambray

04 . 15 . 11

Technically, this post should be titled Chic in Chambray and Denim Shirts but that didn’t have the same ring just Chic in Chambray.  I used to wear chambray and denim shirts in college until they were practically falling apart but tossed them aside after I moved to New York.  As these photos suggest, chambray, denim and […]

There is no better way to escape the dreary weather than to head to a museum or gallery.  I can’t wait to visit the Stanley Wise Gallery soon to see the fabulous photographs of Arthur Elgort on display.  They range from the beginning of his career in 1970 to 2010.  Elgort has shot for some […]

As I was walking up to Industria Studios yesterday afternoon for the J.Crew Fall 2011 preview, I saw Vogue editor Filipa Fina leaving.  She was wearing bright plum colored cropped pants.  Not sure if this was planned or a coincidence but it was definitely a harbinger of what was to come inside as viewed by the first […]

Blue Monday

02 . 28 . 11

Even though red seems to be grabbing all the headlines lately, I’ve been noticing a lot of blue on and off the runway and in the home.  I absolutely love Todd Alexander Romano‘s new blue apartment that was featured in the February issue of Architectural Digest with its pops of citron, chartreuse and red.  I also noticed these […]

Big thanks to Véronique Hyland for including Habitually Chic in her Bloggers Share Their Fashion Week Prep Secrets story for Harpers Bazaar .  I am beyond excited and honored to be included with Garance Doré, Bryanboy, Style Bubble, The Man Repeller, Keep It Chic, All the Pretty Birds, Geometric Sleep, and the Purse Blog.  Fashion […]

Lauren and Lam

02 . 02 . 11

I came across this old photo of Lauren Bacall crossing a New York street recently.  As soon as I saw it, I was immediately reminded of the Derek Lam Spring 2011 collection.  If Lauren Bacall was a young woman today, I could easily see her wearing his whole line right down to the shoes.  This is […]

Color My World

01 . 25 . 11

The biggest trend on the Spring/Summer 2011 runways was color.  Not just a little color but bright, bold, beautiful hues that will shake up your world.  After this brutal winter, I can’t think of anything I want to wear more than cheerful colors.  There are many interior designers who embrace color in their work like […]

Where the Boys Are

01 . 17 . 11

I thought I’d post some chic men’s fashions today as well so my male readers don’t feel left out.  Fashion editors and buyers were in Florence last week for the Pitti Uomo menswear shows and Tommy Ton was on hand to catch the best dressed some of whom were women!  Ciao! All photos by Tommy Ton

Ode to Wicker

01 . 13 . 11

This wicker Hermes Kelly bag looks just right.  I’d like to carry it while wearing a Fendi dress in white.  Tina Turner could drive me around in her Fiat Jolly that surely goes zoom. At the end of the day, we could hang out in this chic lattice room. The End.

Go Green

01 . 11 . 11

Big thanks to my friend Sarah at Rice and Beans Vintage for alerting me to the fact that Stella McCartney was also feeling green.   Her 2011 pre-fall collection is full of emerald green mixed with navy and even gray.  Maybe Pantone should call me before they choose their color for 2012!  Green is definitely good!

The End of an Era

12 . 17 . 10

I was a little shocked to hear this morning that Carine Roitfeld, the editor in chief of French Vogue, will leave the magazine at the end of January.  She’s started her career as a model and later stylist for Tom Ford among others.  She’s been with French Vogue for ten years and says she has […]

Those who were not lucky enough to be invited to the presentation of Tom Ford‘s spring 2011 women’s collection can finally see what we missed thanks to Vogue.  The ensembles were presented by a coterie of Mr. Ford’s friends who included models, singers, actresses and others.  Their ages, 22-67, and body types varied from bootylicious […]

I absolutely love fall but always have trouble dressing for the transitional weather. One minute I’m freezing and the next I’m sweating so layers are a must but still hard to get right.  I’ve been pouring over all the images from New York, London, Milan, and Paris fashion week street fashions and now feel inspired […]

Lovely Loewe

08 . 13 . 10

As you are well aware, I love any type of marketing or magazine features that involve gorgeous interiors and exteriors.  The new fall campaign from the Madrid fashion house of Loewe (pronounced Low-eh-veh) has just that and is making me swoon.  There is something about the shots that remind me of the film I Am […]
