It’s finally cold enough to finally feel like October and thus post my October Inspiration post for 2023. Photo of a New York townhouse by me. I know I’ve posted a lot of fashion this week which some people will love and others will hate. I started this shirtdress post last week and some styles have just gone on sale so I wanted to get it up today before they sell out. I prefer a long sleeve shirtdress because it gives […]

I delayed my October Inspiration post this year because it has still felt a lot like summer lately. I think next week should feel more like October so hopefully this will put you in the mood for pumpkin patches and tweed jackets. Photo by me . The switch to Daylight Saving Time this weekend means we are about to spring forward to more light and warmer weather. After this past winter, I’m ready to add some colorful shoes to my wardrobe and Saks Fifth Avenue has the best styles to choose from right now. I’ve picked out my favorite pairs of […]

There comes a time each winter when I want to burn all my cold-weather clothes. That time arrived today. I’m sick of all my grey coats and sweaters and could use a pop of color. I’ve been loving all the pretty pastel coats I’ve been seeing online lately and they’d be a great way to […]

We only have minimal leaf color change in New York right now but I’m hoping the next few weeks bring the look and feel of fall. Until then, here’s some October inspiration to get you in the mood. The new Sant Ambroeus on Lafayette Street in Soho has been open since January but I finally made it down for lunch today. I got there a little early and had a chance to examine the interior design.  I loved everything they chose including the photography, warm wood paneling, burnt orange leather banquettes with brass […]

Color Blocked

I was going to post something else today but then I thought those of us experiencing grey skies and snow showers could use a burst of color.  Bon weekend! via AD Espana Cacharel Furbish via The Glitter Guide Sterling Style design by Frank de Biasi Nicole Warne of Gary Pepper Vintage via Inaluxe via Frassy […]

Grace

05 . 25 . 12

I’ve been stalking Amazon.com for months to see if they had uploaded the cover image to Grace: A Memoir by Grace Coddington.  When it finally posted, I was excited to see that my book won’t be the only one with an orange cover this fall.  Her cover also seems to be a nod to the old […]

This has been one of those weeks.  I feel exhausted and ready to relax.  But that has to wait until I finish hiding stacks of magazines before a magazine editor comes to scout my apartment.  And then there is still a few last things to do on the book.  It never ends.  Hope you get […]

Inspiring Outfit

02 . 26 . 12

One sure fire way to be photographed by the street style photographers during fashion week is to wear color. Mr. Newton captured the inspiring outfit above in Milan for Harper’s Bazaar and I love the combination of neutrals, aqua, orange, and purple.  It not only looks nice as an outfit but also in art and […]

Warm Winter Orange

01 . 05 . 12

My love of orange is no secret.  Especially burnt orange. I saw a space so beautifully decorated with the color yesterday that it inspired me to put together another little compilation inspiration post.  Enjoy.  All photos from tumblr

It’s no secret that I love orange.  From burnt to bright, it always makes me happy.  It always looks great with neutrals like in the room by Jeffrey Bilhuber above, but also with pale and charcoal grey.  Bon Weekend!  Vogue UK Elle Decor Vogue UK Elle Decor J.Crew Bennett Chino Gil Schafer Tory Burch Blouse […]

I apologize for a lack of post yesterday.  I had trouble uploading my photos but I’ll try to make up for it today.  Due to torrential downpours in New York on Sunday, I ended up visiting the New York International Gift Fair on Monday instead.  It was so nice seeing all my friends and finding […]

As you probably know by know, orange is my favorite color.  While red can signal danger and seem aggressive, I always think orange looks cheerful and happy. I do however like orange paired with a little red as well as pink, fuchsia and purple.  The spring 2011 runways were filled orange but as you can see, it also works […]

Runway to Room

01 . 13 . 11

I don’t normally do runway to room posts but there is something about this spring 2011 design by Diane von Furstenberg that reminds me of this gorgeous room by Olivier Gagnère.  Orange and purple is such an unusual color combination but in both cases it seems to work.  C’est magnafique!

Perfectly Pumpkin

11 . 02 . 09

Architect Gil Schafer‘s apartment in the West Village mixes orange and black but there is nothing scary about it! In fact, the burnt orange pumpkin color of the living room walls mixed with the espresso wool felt upholstered gallery walls and black scagliola mantle is positively divine! And then there are the Ionic columns and […]
